Sign up now for Meals to Go for Spring Break! This program helps provide breakfast, lunch, and snack items for kids in Wirt County during extended breaks from school. Food may be picked up on Friday, March 27 between 2-5:30 at the parking lot near the high school football field. Any Wirt County kid is eligible. In the event of power failure, Wirt County Senior Citizens building will be open as a warming station.

Residents can also call WV 211 or check with local emergency services for the most up-to-date resources. Please continue to check on neighbors, especially during these cold temperatures.

‼️ Area Warming Centers - Wood Co.‼️

The Latrobe Street Mission and the Salvation army will be open for warming centers

You do not have to be a shelter resident to use the warming center

House to Home will be open today until 8pm. (825 7th St. - Parkersburg)

The Gathering will be open 8pm to 8am (1005 14th St - Parkersburg)

This will be effective for at least the next two nights.

The Wirt County Family Resources Office will be accepting applications for the annual Grandfamilies Secret Santa Program on October 29 and 30. If you are a grandparent raising your grandchildren (or providing another type of kinship care to a relative who is a minor child), and are a Wirt County resident, contact our office at 304-275-4833 or 304-275-4834 to schedule your appointment.

In the last 24 hours, there has been a suspected overdose reported in Wirt County, according to law enforcement and EMS via ODMAP.
We urge anyone using illicit substances to use extreme caution. If you or someone you know is at risk, the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department (MOVHD) offers free Naloxone (Narcan) and training to help prevent overdose deaths.

This Thursday, we’ll be joining forces with partners across the region for Save a Life Day 2025—a powerful, hands-on event focused on overdose prevention, community care, and connection.
