We wanted to share news of an exciting development in Congress: the introduction of the People and Animals Well-being (PAW) Act (H.R. 9508). This proposed legislation would allow Americans to use tax-advantaged Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) to cover expenses for pets and service animals — including veterinary care and pet insurance premiums.

At Pumpkin, we proudly support the PAW Act. With a mission to make best-in-class veterinary care more accessible ‘fur’ all, we believe this bill is a crucial step toward reducing the financial barriers that pet parents face.

Mon Valley Paws Grants
Senior Grant

Available to individuals age 55 and older who reside in the Mon Valley area and need assistance paying for an exam, dental procedure (cleaning and extractions) or emergency treatment for one of the conditions listed below.

Accident by auto vehicle or physical harm by an individual or other animal.
Emergency treatment due to accidental poisoning.
Emergency treatment due to ingestion of a foreign substance or object.
Emergency treatment for Lyme disease
Emergency treatment for excessive vomiting/diarrhea, difficulty breathing or refusal to eat.
Emergency evaluation and treatment of a recently found abandoned dog or cat.
For the exam or dental procedure grant, the application can be submitted prior to making an appointment with your vet or at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. For the emergency treatment grant the application should be submitted ASAP after the appointment is made in order to give adequate time for the application to be reviewed.

Grant can be used at any veterinarian provider. However, priority/preference will be given to clients of vets who are Mon Valley Paws sponsors or partners.
