Happy national social work month! Hannah Kuhn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and shares what social work means to her.

Social work isn’t something you choose, I think it chooses you.

Coming from a lineage of educators I’m deeply proud of, I was determined to find my own path. One that aligned with my personal values and who I strive to be as a person. Social work found me at a time when I would not be who I am today had it not.

Needless to say, this isn’t just what I do for income. This is what I’m most passionate about, empowering vulnerable populations through social justice and human rights advocacy. This is who I am in every moment of every day.

I’m proud to have discovered this field, and I’m proud to be a social worker, this month and every month. Here’s to all the social workers! ✨

Happy social work month!!

Kyla Claycomb (aka "the OG") is a Certified Social Worker and has been with the practice from the start! Kyla shares why she chose the field of social work and what it means to her.

I chose social work because I believe everyone deserves to be heard, supported, and given the opportunity to succeed.

To me, being a social worker means advocating for others while also empowering individuals to recognize their strengths and learn how to advocate for themselves. It’s about meeting people with empathy, building relationships, and helping them find the confidence and tools they need to overcome challenges and create positive change in their lives. 💙

Happy national social work month!!

Jessica Hayes is a Licensed Clincial Social Work supervisor at our Leitchfield office and explains why she chose the field of social work:

I chose social work because I’ve always felt deeply drawn to helping people grow and create meaningful change in their lives. I believe that people are incredibly resilient, and with the right support, they can move through even the most difficult circumstances. Being a social worker, to me, means walking alongside others in a way that is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and empowering.

A core value that really guides me is the dignity and worth of the person. I believe every individual deserves to be seen, heard, and respected. This also connects to my passion for social justice. I feel strongly about advocating for equity and challenging systems that create barriers for people. For me, social work is not just about supporting individuals, but also about helping create a more just and compassionate world.

Happy national social work month!

Hayley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker supervisor and shares what clinical social work means to her:

Social work is meaningful to me because it allows me to support people during some of the most important moments in their lives. I value being empathetic and meeting people where they are, while helping them feel heard, respected, and understood. Two values of social work that I align with are the dignity and worth of every person and the importance of human relationships. I believe everyone deserves compassion and the opportunity to grow. One of the most rewarding parts of social work for me is being able to support individuals as they build confidence, overcome challenges, and truly blossom into the best version of themselves.

Happy national social work month!

Tara is a Certified Social Worker and shares why she chose the social work field and what it means to her:

The social work principle of social justice and advocacy emphasizes the responsibility of social workers to advocate for vulnerable populations, including children, who may not have the power or ability to advocate for themselves. This principle is especially important to me and is one of the main reasons I chose to pursue a career in social work. As a child, and even as an adult, I often witnessed situations that did not sit right with me, and I felt as though I did not always have a voice that mattered. My parents always encouraged me to stand up for those who could not stand up for themselves. I took that message to heart and decided at a young age that I wanted a career where I could help others and make a meaningful difference in their lives.

Being a social worker means helping others find their voice and build confidence in themselves and their abilities. It means supporting people as they begin to recognize that their feelings, dreams, and goals are valid, and that those goals can truly be attainable with the right support and encouragement. This perspective guides my work with children and families, as I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered to grow.

It’s National Social Work month, and we’d like to highlight our clinical social workers.

We are owned by a husband and wife team, Krista Mitchell and Chris Longoria. Both Chris and Krista are Licensed Clinical Social Work supervisors, the highest licensure in the field of clinical social work.

Chris and Krista believe in the profound power and responsibility of clinical social work. Their practice is built on core principals such as social justice, the dignity and worth of every human being, the right of clients to exercise self determination, the importance of human relationships, and strong advocacy for marginalized and oppressed populations.

Chris and Krista believe strongly in ethical, competent, and quality clinical practice. These beliefs are shaped largely due to their social work foundation.
