Athletics was always an integral part of Julie’s life. After recovering from serious spinal surgeries in her 30s, she needed to find a new way to challenge her body and find balance in her life. She found Bikram yoga and that experience opened the door to a whole new way of living and being! The physical benefits spoke to her, but the spiritual and mental benefits were unexpected and amazing. Julie opened Half Moon Yoga Studio in 2012 in the community she grew up in and loves, so she could share all the goodness that comes from a regular yoga practice. Julie is experienced and believes in the therapeutic benefits of yoga. She guides her Half Moon students in learning to deepen their relationship with themselves, and hopes they grow to trust their own ability to heal themselves. She continues her deep training and personal growth studying with Gary Kraftsow and the American Viniyoga Institute. http://www.viniyoga.com

Besides practicing yoga and meditation, she comes alive learning something new, collecting antiques, tending her garden and 1790 farm house, and spending time with her family, friends, dogs and orange tabby kitty, Mr. Stubblefield. Pilates Instructor:

Carrie Montgomery, B.S. Human Services

Classes: Pilates Plus

Carrie finds happiness in moving, whether it is through dancing, working out, or walking dogs. She has over 20 years of experience with teaching just about every fitness “craze” since the late 1980s. She has held ACE and AFFA certifications as well as other fitness certifications such as PIYO, Turbo Kick and indoor cycling. She is entering her 15th year of teaching dance at Hershey School of Dance and has been teaching Pilates since 2002. By adding Pilates to your schedule, Carrie is convinced you will be thrilled with your improved body tone. The increased core strength achieved through Pilates is beneficial to all levels of students, competitive athletes to the fitness conscious. REGISTERING FOR SPECIAL CLASSES/EVENTS

Our special classes (i.e. Advanced Mind/Body Yoga and Restorative) have been well received by our community! Once the class is full, we keep a waitlist. CLASS POLICY

If you are unable to attend a special class that you registered for and did not cancel within 24 hours, you will be charged for that practice from your membership or sent an invoice. Memberships cover these practices; without a membership the cost is $18 for a drop-in. Our hope is that in your absence you will want another Half Moon yogi to enjoy the benefits of the practice, as spaces are limited. WHY REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THESE PRACTICES

Yoga is meant to be applied to the individual. These special practices are developed for that unique purpose. When Julie knows you are coming and has a sense of what you're seeking, she can then be most prepared to serve you as your teacher. Check out our class schedule at halfmoonhershey.com and join us anytime! May you be well, may you be happy, may you be peaceful. Namaste.

Yoga Principles for Reflection:

Abhyasa (sanskrit)
Diligent, focused practice (translation)

Ongoing, sincere, and effortful practice is the source of strength and progress.

Every time I practice, it empowers me and reinforces my positive direction.

Hi Half Moon yogis!

This practice is great to stretch the front of your body (perhaps from sitting too much) and even better, can create a boost to your energy. Backward bends, starting from gentle poses and moving deeper, are a perfect way to feel more awake, alert and invigorated!

I miss you so much! I think of how sweet it will be when we have our first classes together again! Be in touch anytime to connect about your practice and/or to just catch up.

Half Moon Yoga Studio is going to stay closed following the PA State guidelines.

I am available for private consultations to develop a personal practice for you in this difficult time. I will also continue to post short practices and inspiring thoughts so we can stay connected!

Please keep watching for changes and updates here, on our website and for emails.

Carrie and I miss all of you!

May we be well, may we be happy, may we be peaceful!

Yogic Principles for Reflection:
Pratipaksa-bhavana (sanskrit)
Cultivating the oppositie (loose translation)

Firm ethical standards and an attitude of fairness give me the strength to counteract negativity.

I can listen to both sides of a story without judging anyone.

I will try to understand each person's point of view and not jump to conclusions based on assumptions.

Examples may be replacing blame with healing, replacing judging with listening, replacing fear with trust.

Namaste.... Julie

Hi Half Moon friends!

Thinking of you! I hope that providing small home practices will be supportive. Create a designated space that is welcoming! You can see how that worked for me below;)

This is a practice that focuses on neck and shoulders. I’m imagining many of you sitting at your computers. Make sure to do shoulders rolls often, turning your head, lowering and lifting your chin, take breaks and perhaps just do a pose or two from below.

I’m available to help you decipher these stick figure practices, and create your own practice!

May we be well, may we be happy, may we be peaceful.... Julie🙏
