One of the complications of diabetes is Peripheral Neuropathy. Many diabetics, chemotherapy patients, smokers/ex-smokers, those exposed to different chemical, conditions related to work, certain medical conditions , etc. are plagued with this condition.

Peripheral neuropathy is a result of nerve damage which often causes weakness, numbness and pain, usually in your hands and feet in a glove-like and sock-like presentation when it starts. Usually the feet are where symptoms beginning first, as they are farther from the heart and circulation is more affected.

People generally describe the pain of peripheral neuropathy as tingling or burning as well as a loss of sensation compared to a feeling of wearing a thin stocking or glove.

Balance is often affected and every second of every day in the United States an older adult falls, making falls the number one cause of injuries and deaths from injury among older Americans (according to the CDC). Elderly is now defined as 65 years of age or above.

Peripheral neuropathy is a serious disease of blood vessels that supply the nerves as well as the nerves themselves

The most common drug prescribed for people suffering with diabetic related leg pain is Lyrica®. Other prescription medications like Lyrica (originally used as Anti-seizure medications) such as Gabapentin/Neurontin, and Cymbalta are commonly prescribed as well.

But use of these medications, some in Off-Label Usage comes with a huge price.

To be quite honest I have to wonder how this drug was ever approved.

One look at the PDR (Physician's Desk Reference) will get you wondering too.

Here is a list of some of the recorded side effects:

* Has an unexpectedly high incidence of hemangio-sarcoma (which is a cancer of blood vessels).

* It raises your creatinine kinase (leads to kidney disease).

* Lowers your platelet count.

* Causes changes in the EKG that can lead to heart block.

* Causes weight gain.

* Causes swelling of the ankles.

* Can cause life-threatening angioedema (swelling of the throat and face inhibiting breathing).

* Causes retinal atrophy as well as corneal inflammation and calcification. (meaning you can go blind from it as it progresses to macular degeneration).

Many of the above side effects are things that you as the diabetic patient is trying to avoid? Right?

These drugs just speed up the likelihood that you will get the side effects a lot sooner.

To make matters worse any improvement that you get as a diabetic patient is short-lived and will commonly wear off after one year.

We have a treatment (Non-Prescription Medication) solution for Peripheral Neuropathy.

Call or Office and get on the list for the next in-office Peripheral Neuropathy Seminar (Date TBD) starting in 2019 and find out if you are eligible to resolve your painful neuropathy symptoms.

Chemical commonly found in hand soap and sanitizers may increase risk of breast cancer!

Triclosan is an antibacterial and antifungal agent widely used in many different products, such as hand soap and sanitizer, plastic kitchen tools, cutting boards, high chairs, pencils, deodorant, clothes, toys, bedding and other fabrics.

A 2014 study published in the American Chemical Society's journal Chemical Research in Toxicology found that triclosan, as well another commercial substance called octylphenol, promoted the growth of human breast cancer cells. Use products that do not contain these two toxic chemicals.
