The groovy miss Ruby, our former Events & Adventures Assistant, made a surprise return to Bruceville Point to celebrate her birthday with residents, families, and staff and it was nothing short of magical!!! Her visit was filled with hugs, laughter, happy tears, and endless smiles as familiar faces reunited with someone so deeply loved and missed. Seeing Ruby walk through the doors again (and literally pop up from behind the counter at donuts in the Bistro) reminded us just how special the bonds formed here truly are. The joy and excitement she brought with her lit up the entire community, making her birthday celebration one we won’t soon forget! 🎂

This heartfelt surprise was secretly orchestrated by a small group of helpers, including Monica, our current E&A Assistant and one of Ruby’s closest friends, who worked behind the scenes to make the moment perfect. Now absolutely crushing it in Anaheim as a Disneyland team member and working nearby at a hotel, Ruby continues to chase her dreams while carrying a piece of Bruceville Point with her wherever she goes. Her visit was a beautiful reminder that the relationships fostered here extend far beyond our walls and create lifelong connections, lasting memories, and a true sense of family. 💫✨

By popular demand, horse racing gambling with Bruceville Bucks made a winning comeback! 🏇💰 Our inflatable horses were off to the races, the bets were flying, and the laughter was nonstop. Safe to say, this crowd favorite is here to stay and YES, we’ll be back again next week for another round of fun! 🤠

Today, we brought the magic of Mardi Gras straight to Bruceville Point, and it was nothing short of joyful!! We tuned into a live stream from New Orleans, soaking in the sights and sounds of the celebration while surrounded by festive beads, colorful masks, and cheerful decorations that instantly lifted the spirit of the room. The energy was contagious, and smiles were everywhere as we embraced the fun, flair, and vibrancy that make Mardi Gras so special.

And then… the beignets. Warm, fluffy, and absolutely irresistible, our spread from Huckleberry's featured classic plain glaze alongside strawberry, blueberry, and peach jams: all generously dusted with clouds of powdered sugar. Every bite felt like a little taste of New Orleans. To top it all off, a live band filled the air with lively tunes, turning our gathering into a true celebration full of laughter, movement, and connection.

Mardi Gras, which means “Fat Tuesday” in French, has a rich history rooted in centuries-old European traditions and religious customs. Originally marking the final day of indulgence before the season of Lent, it evolved into a grand celebration of community, culture, and joy. When French settlers brought these traditions to Louisiana, New Orleans embraced and expanded them, creating the iconic parades, music, costumes, and culinary traditions we know and love today.

At its heart, Mardi Gras is about togetherness and gathering with others to celebrate life, heritage, and the simple pleasures that bring us closer. Today’s festivities reminded us how powerful shared moments can be, especially when they’re filled with music & sweetness!! 💜💛💚

✈️🌎 Travel Tuesday at Harbor!
We may not be packing our bags just yet, but our photos are traveling the world virtually! Friends near and far are sharing where our picture has reached, and we’ll be bringing those stories back to our residents to spark memories, smiles, and conversations.

We had too much fun the past few days celebrating Valentine’s Day in Harbor that we forgot to capture the fun but here is some fun times we did capture!

Together, Bruceville Point raised $1,000 through our Valentine’s candy gram fundraiser, which included a box of chocolates, conversation heart candies, a chocolate rose, and small Reese’s Pieces hearts. This incredible effort was made possible by the dedication of our staff members, the generosity of our community, and especially the heart and teamwork of the E&A team. What began as a simple idea turned into something truly meaningful, filled with love, laughter, and a shared purpose to give back.

All proceeds were donated to Chicks in Crisis, a nonprofit organization devoted to supporting women and young mothers facing unplanned pregnancies or life-altering circumstances. Chicks in Crisis provides housing, counseling, education, baby supplies, and long-term resources that empower women to build stable, independent futures for themselves and their children. Their mission centers around compassion, dignity, and hope - offering not just immediate support, but a path forward. We are so proud to contribute to a cause that uplifts, protects, and invests in women (and men) during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

At the end of the day, this was about more than candy, fundraising, or Valentine’s traditions. It was about choosing to spread love in tangible, meaningful ways. Whether through small acts of kindness, shared moments of connection, or collective generosity, love multiplies when it’s given freely. This experience reminded us how powerful community can be when we come together with open hearts, and how even the simplest gestures can create real impact. Here’s to continuing to lead with compassion, empathy, and love, not just on Valentine’s Day, but every day

Thank you to A Seat at the Table Books for an absolutely fabulous afternoon filled with delicious sandwiches, caramel-covered beignets, and the most delightful drinks: from golden milk tea lattes and orange cinnamon iced tea to lemonade and white chocolate mochas. We had the best time browsing for books and choosing from their beautiful propagated plants, with proceeds supporting local organizations, which made the experience even more meaningful. 🍵

This bookstore is truly a gem in Elk Grove - a welcoming, inclusive space where community gathers, authors host events, and local small businesses are celebrated. We even stumbled upon jewelry and homemade sourdough tables during our visit, which made it feel like a charming little market tucked inside a bookstore. Thank you again for such a lovely experience and we’ll absolutely be back soon! 📖

GOOD DAY SACRAMENTO!!! 💗❤️🤍💖

Operation: Send the Love to Seniors commenced this morning as a local teen from Elk Grove passed out hundreds of Valentine cards. She is graduating high school and heading off to college so this is her last year - making it it extra special! Not to worry, the tradition will be passed on.

The segment features our very own Linda, Laura, Betty, and Gary sharing a meal as they talk about what Valentine’s Day, community, and connection means to them. Happy (early) day of love!! 💕

For years, one teen from Elk Grove has been organizing hundreds of Valentine cards to be sent to seniors, but this year she's graduating high school and off to college, so she's passing off the project to make sure it keeps going strong. Dina is with them now!

Harbor residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to BLVD! Bowling in Sacramento! After velcroing up their bowling shoes and settling in at lane #3, everyone shared in friendly competition, pepperoni and cheese pizza, and lots of laughter. We even added a little extra fun with some lighthearted dancing between turns (looking at you, Steve!)! 🕺🏻

A huge thank you to our new Harbor Activities Coordinator - Karin - for organizing such a memorable and engaging outing for our community!!! 🎳

Super Bowl Sunday!!! 🏈🏆

Residents gathered in our Media Room/Theater for a watch party filled with great food and energy! Buffalo Wild Wings adorned the table and we had classic gameday snacks like celery & carrot sticks with ranch, sodas, and lemonade. Everyone enjoyed the full game-day experience and people popped in and out to check the score. No matter which team residents were rooting for, the afternoon was full of laughs at commercials, cheering, and community, making it a win for everyone!!!!!
