Cosumnes Fire has launched a pilot program that provides at-home virtual emergency room visits for EMS patients who meet the required criteria. The program allows paramedics to arrive on scene, evaluate the patient, and initiate a live telehealth consult with a Tele911 emergency physician. Within minutes, the emergency physician assesses the patient and establishes an appropriate treatment plan specific to the patient’s needs.

Telehealth services, like Tele911, assist with improving public safety by making EMS systems more patient-centered, reducing response times to critical calls, increasing access to care, and saving lives.
