For those days when you don't want to mow your lawn... Advanced reservations required.

You’ve heard of checking out books. You may have even seen our e-bike lending library.
But we’re ready to take library services to the next level.

Introducing the Goat Lending Library.

That’s right. Beginning later this summer with the opening of the new Elk Grove Library, residents will be able to check out a goat, free of charge, for up to three weeks at a time.

Lawn looking a little wild? Goat. Need natural w**d control? Goat. Just want a new four-legged reading buddy? Also goat.

Each checkout includes basic care instructions, a starter snack pack, and very strong encouragement to return your goat on time. Terms and conditions apply.

Elk Grove City Manager, Jason Behrmann, has received one of the highest honors in California local government: the League of California Cities’ Wes McClure Award of Distinction.

This award recognizes outstanding leadership, integrity, innovation, and service, and we’re proud to see Elk Grove represented in such a big way.

Over the past year, Jason has worked not only for Elk Grove, but alongside leaders across Sacramento County to protect local decision-making and ensure cities like ours continue to have a voice.

When federal delays impacted CalFresh benefits, he helped coordinate an emergency effort that raised $131,000 in just 48 hours for the Elk Grove Food Bank bringing together regional partners to support families in need.

Throughout the organization, Jason has focused on building a strong, positive workplace culture. In our most recent employee survey:

• 93% of employees say Elk Grove is a great place to work
• 96% would recommend working here
• 94% plan to stay

That stability and commitment translates directly into better service for our community.

With more than 27 years in public service, Jason leads with integrity, heart, and a clear focus on Elk Grove’s future.

Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved recognition! 👏
