When working with clients I often follow a Solution-Focused Therapy approach that is centered around the belief that clients are the experts of their own lives and as a therapist it is my role to support clients in identifying their problems/goals they would like to work on in therapy. I also have a passion for teaching Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills and often incorporate those skills into my sessions with clients to give them skills they can use right away.
My goal is to provide clients a safe, confidential space where they genuinely feel supported and inspires hope for them as they navigate through challenges they may be experiencing.
As a Licensed as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor I am able to offer Chemical Health Assessments to those seeking them for personal, professional or legal reasons. My graduate training in addiction studies allows me the opportunity to work well with family members who are seeking a therapist with a greater understanding how addiction can impact the whole family/system.
Academic/Professional: I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC). I have been working in the field of mental and chemical health for the last 14 years. During that time, I have developed a wide variety of experiences working with individuals, families and couples. Currently I meet with clients in a private practice setting in Elk River or via Tele Health however prior to that I worked in both in-patient and outpatient treatment programs as well as provided therapy to clients in their homes.
Supervision: Cindy is an approved Supervisor for the Minnesota MFT and BBHT Boards and can supervise those seeking their LMFT, LADC, LPC/LPCC licensure. Please contract her directly at 763.438.4971 or by email, northerncitiestherapy@gmail.com, if you are interested in pursuing individual/dyad or group supervision.
