Some lives leave a mark on generations who grew up surrounded by their imagination.

We are deeply honored to serve the family of local artist G.G. Santiago, the creative force behind the beloved character Rainbow Brite, as well as Enesco’s My Little Kitchen Fairies and the Franz Porcelain Skin Deep collection.

G.G.’s journey was nothing short of remarkable. Born in Latvia during World War II, she endured hardship and loss at an early age before immigrating to the United States, where her artistic gifts flourished. Her work would go on to inspire millions, bringing color, joy, and wonder into homes around the world through illustration, figurines, and children’s entertainment.

Yet beyond her accomplishments, those closest to her remember her as someone who never forgot that her gift was both a calling and a means of rebuilding what had once been lost.

It is our privilege to carry out her final wishes and to care for her family during this time.

Join us for a free, informal Funeral Pre-Planning Workshop at Billings Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 3, at 10:00 AM at The Gathering Place (our event center).

This workshop is designed to help you understand your options and begin planning at your own pace, whether your goal is to spare your family difficult decisions later, make sure your wishes are clearly recorded, or simply learn what the process looks like. We’ll walk through a simple planning form (vital information, family details, and service choices), explain common burial and cremation options, and answer questions in a relaxed, no-pressure setting.

You’ll also learn about optional pre-funding, including how funeral trusts work, portability, price guarantees, and Medicaid considerations. Coffee and donuts provided.

There is no preparing for the weight of it. You can know it's coming, watch it approach like weather on the horizon, and still be stunned when it finally arrives. Grief doesn't knock. It enters like it owns the place.

When someone dies, pause and breathe. In most cases, staff or authorities will make the first call to the funeral home. Planning ahead can ease the burden later.

Why have a funeral service?

Many families today choose not to have a service. Sometimes, burial or cremation happens without any gathering at all. I’ll never say that you must have a funeral, but in my experience, there are important reasons to at least consider one.

Join the Billings Funeral Home family as our front desk receptionist. We are seeking driven, career-minded applicants who wish to grow with our team and provide exceptional service to our community during significant moments.

Responsibilities include answering calls, greeting guests with care, handling payments, creating printed materials such as register books and memorial folders, managing inventory, assisting the office manager with clerical tasks, and maintaining a professional reception area. Applicants should have excellent phone etiquette, strong face-to-face customer service skills, multitasking abilities, and proficiency in Word, Excel, and Canva. Familiarity with basic office equipment is helpful. Previous experience is preferred but not required.
