What if—for just one evening—you could step inside the mind of a student with dyslexia or ADHD?
What if you could feel the frustration, confusion, and courage it takes to show up and try again every single day?
The Fundamental Learning Center is bringing their powerful, hands-on simulation “Walk In Their Shoes” to Elkhart — and this is something you will never forget.
This event isn’t a lecture.
It’s an experience.
One that will change the way you understand your students, your children, and even yourself.
⸻
💡 Here’s what you’ll experience:
• What the brain goes through during reading and phonological awareness
• Auditory discrimination and cognitive processing challenges
• Pre-primer reading and decoding simulations that reveal what it feels like to struggle with dyslexia
• Word retrieval and writing (dysgraphia) simulations
• ADHD simulation that shows the constant pull of distraction and impulsivity
• Real-world testing profiles, red flag signs, and actionable strategies to take back to your classroom or home
⸻
📊 The reality:
• 1 in 5 students has dyslexia — and most are never formally identified.
• 1 in 10 students has ADHD — many misunderstood as lazy, defiant, or careless, when in truth, their brains just work differently.
These aren’t rare conditions. These are our kids. Our students. Our community.
⸻
👩🏫 Who should come:
Parents. Teachers. School board members. Counselors. Healthcare professionals. Community leaders.
Everyone who believes that understanding is the first step to change.
This is a free event, open to the entire community.
Expect a 2.5–3 hour immersive session filled with powerful insight, hands-on learning, and open discussion.
