What do SHARK TEETH and a $150 GIFTCARD have in common? 🦈 🦷

Not much! Believe it or not, we are not the only people who love teeth! One of our patients brought in their rather robust collection of shark teeth they have collected over the years!
We were thinking we could do something fun with these teeth to help grow our social media and to reward our patients!

Starting TODAY and going through the end of the month (March 31st), we will be taking your guesses of how many shark teeth are inside this glass container? The CLOSEST guess will win!

As we near the end of National Childhood Dental Health Month, here are some reminders for parents and caregivers:

1. Take your child to the dentist EARLY. By age 1, or their first tooth.
2. Checkups should happen TWICE a year, about every 6 months.
3. Parents and guardians should ASSIST children with brushing and flossing, until the child can show they can do it properly on their own.
4. Encourage healthy foods, drinks and snacks to prevent tooth decay!

If you ever have questions about your child’s teeth, ask their dentist! Getting started early can prevent a lot of dental problems later in life!

Did you know that many animals are diphyodont, meaning they have 2 sets of teeth?
Humans, cats and dogs all start with their “milk teeth,” or more commonly known as baby teeth or deciduous teeth.
As they grow and develop, the baby teeth become loose and are replaced with the permanent adult teeth, which you should have for the rest of your life!

Do you know of any animals that are polyphyodont, having multiple continuous sets of teeth? What about animals that are monophyodont, or have only one set of teeth? Some animals have NO teeth too, called edentulism! Comment your guesses below!

Chloe and Twinkles had the opportunity to meet with preschoolers to teach about oral health!
