Donate Blood. Make a Difference. ❤️
A nationwide blood shortage is putting pressure on hospitals after winter storms and canceled blood drives led to tens of thousands of missed donations. Blood supplies are running low, and hospitals depend on these donations every day to care for patients in emergencies, surgeries, and ongoing treatments.

If you’re able, consider donating blood or platelets to help replenish the supply. 🩸

Find a blood drive near you and make a difference today! 🩸American Red Cross: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/find-drive

Most of all, it was a chance to celebrate the incredible work these professionals do every day—sharing the stories of their hospitals, health systems, and the patients they serve.

Big news for pancreatic cancer care! Frederick Health is the first health system in the U.S. to offer a newly FDA‑approved treatment for locally advanced pancreatic cancer — the first such advance in three decades. Patients now have access to Tumor Treating Fields therapy (used with chemo), a non‑invasive approach that can extend life with fewer side effects. And Dr. Sarkisian is the first doc in the nation certified to deliver this breakthrough care. 🙌

Spring is around the corner — but that doesn’t mean coughs, allergies, and the occasional injury take a break. From lingering flu cases to kids heading back outside, knowing where to go for care still matters.

🏡 Primary Care: Checkups, allergy flare-ups, lingering coughs, routine visits
🏥 Urgent Care: Minor injuries, fevers, sprains, after-hours concerns
🚨 Emergency Room: Serious or life-threatening emergencies only

Choosing the right place for care keeps emergency rooms ready for true emergencies — and helps everyone feel better, faster, as we head into warmer days. 💙

Last week, members of MHA's executive team traveled to D.C. to meet with health staffers from Maryland's Congressional Delegation, representing the offices of Senator Van Hollen and Sen. Angela Alsobrooks, and Representatives April McClain Delaney, Rep. Andy Harris, M.D., Congressman Steny Hoyer, Congressman Kweisi Mfume, Johnny Olszewski Jr, and Rep. Jamie Raskin.

MHA remains committed to engaging our Congressional delegation to ensure Maryland hospitals and the communities they serve have a strong voice on the issues that matter most. We look forward to continuing these critical conversations!
