Today is National , celebrated on the birthday of Elizabeth Blackwell — the trailblazer who became the first woman in the United States to earn a medical degree in 1849. 🎉

Blackwell’s story is one of persistence, courage, and a commitment to opening doors for others. Rejected by nearly every medical school she applied to, she was finally accepted to Geneva Medical College in New York—reportedly because the all‑male student body voted to admit her as a joke. She proved them wrong by graduating first in her class. But she didn’t stop there!

✨ She co-founded the New York Infirmary for Indigent Women and Children, providing both care and medical training opportunities for women.
✨ She helped establish the first women’s medical college, paving the way for future generations of women in medicine.
✨ She advocated throughout her life for public health, hygiene, and equal access to medical education.

Today—and every day—we honor the extraordinary women physicians who follow in her footsteps, caring for our communities and inspiring future leaders. 💙

Camp Scrubs is back and better than ever! ☀️🥼Students aged 10-18 years old will enjoy a week-long camp at ChristianaCare Union Hospital and Cecil College learning about both clinical and non-clinical roles in the hospital. Race with the rehabilitation team, scrub-in at the Operating Room, swaddle babies with Labor & Delivery, meet new friends, and more!

Registration is now open. We are offering two camps based on age group: June 22-June 26 (10-13 year olds) and August 3-August 7 (14-18 year olds). Please fill out the appropriate link for your child.
