On Monday, October 6, 2025, at approximately 9:00 PM, the Ellenville First Aid & Rescue Squad (EFARS) was dispatched to multiple calls with multiple patients. One reported 3 patients from an assault in the village of Ellenville and a overdose at the Eastern Correctional Facility. Upon arrival at Eastern correctional facility EFARS Paramedic 74-50 was advised that there were a total of 5 patients involved at this incident.
Paramedic 74-50 immediately notified Ulster County 911 of the situation and requested activation of the Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) plan to bring in additional resources. Ellenville First Aid & Rescue Squad responded with all three ambulances, 2 staffed at ALS,(Advanced Life Support) paramedic level and one BLS, (Basic Life Support). During the response a additional call was received for an additional patient at Ulster Correctional Facility.
Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad (KAFAS) responded along with Napanoch Fire Department and Ulster County Fire Coordinator due to concerns of a possible substance exposure. The Ulster County EMS Coordinator was also advised and maintained communication with EFARS Car 74 along with command throughout the incident.
A total of 4 patients were transported to Ellenville Regional Hospital — 3 from Eastern Correctional Facility and one from Ulster Correctional Facility while three from the village inccident were treated and released.
