Had the opportunity to represent our family at the Garry Anderson Wrestling Invitational Tournament today at Edgewood High School. So appreciative of those who supported naming a tournament after Coach. It means a lot to our family and I know many in the community. Come out today and support the Mustangs at the Garry Anderson Memorial Invitational!

We are honored to announce that the Mustang Invitational will now be known as the Garry Anderson Invitational in memory of our beloved longtime coach. Coach Anderson dedicated decades to shaping young athletes, inspiring excellence both on and off the mat.

This change celebrates his legacy and the countless lives he touched as a mentor, coach, and a teacher. Coach Anderson was recently inducted into the Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his 31-year coaching career, 360 wins, six sectional titles, and more.

Coach Anderson was officially inducted into the Monroe Co Hall of Fame on Friday night surrounded by a most prestigious class of athletes, contributors and coaches. Karen Anderson (Mrs. Coach) asked Paul to accept the award and speak on the family's behalf. Wanted to share his speech with all of our friends and family who have supported this page. We are thrilled to share with you that he has been chosen as an inductee to the Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame on July 19th beginning at 5:00 pm – Meet & Greet (open to the public) - then 6:00pm – Reception – Grand Ball Room - 6:45pm – Banquet Buffet - 7:30pm – Awards Program.
We would LOVE to see many of you that evening to come and share your memories and well wishes with Garry's wife Karen and family that will be there representing him that evening. Due to Co--vid--we were never able to hold an actual service or memorial for him, and this has been a surprise blessing and opportunity for those coached by him or loved by him or his family to come and celebrate together while supporting other young athletes both past and present which was a HUGE mission of Coach Anderson's. Wrestling season has begun! Always Coach Anderson’s favorite time of year!!! This was a special night for Coach getting to see so many of his former wrestlers/wrestlerettes along with the current up and coming wrestlers! Here’s to another season of doing what we can to support Edgewood Wrestling and make you proud!

1 Year…feels like just yesterday.

Coach, There isn’t a day that goes by that your larger than life presence isn’t missed. It would be easy to focus on the sadness and the loss but that’s not what you were about. You stood firmly on getting back up, pressing on, working hard and relentlessly fighting to come out victorious! So that, Coach, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Mentor, Friend is what we will do today to honor you!

What is one thing today that you’re struggling with that you are willing to take head on today in honor of Coach?

Many of you were so generous to donate towards this amazing memorial fund that was started in Coach’s memory. Coach Anderson was adamant that any kid who was willing to learn and put in the work in a sport should have the opportunity to play and excel and money should be no object. Due to your generosity, Coach’s family was able to help several athletes last season. We’d love to be able to honor his memory in this way again this year. If you see fit, please consider a donation towards this incredible cause!
