Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant-An LSMMD Community

Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant-An LSMMD Community Together, we can create the life you want, filled with fitness, relaxation, fine dining and more. Today, nearly 350 older adults call LVMG home.

Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant in Howard County welcomed its first residents in 2016. The community provided person-centered care and opportunities for residents to live the best life possible, and partners with community and educational organizations that share a passion for service and support for older adults. The care continuum allows residents access to on-site health care. LVMG is a Lutheran Social Ministries of Maryland community.

Our Open Hands, Open Hearts chaplaincy group came together to prepare 70 lunches for the Howard County Cold Weather Shelter at the Grassroots Crisis Intervention Center in Columbia. And the generosity didn’t stop there—thanks to so many talented bakers, we had plenty of cookies to share, including five big bags delivered to the Ellicott City Volunteer Fire Department.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who gave their time, talent and kindness to support our neighbors in need. Moments like these show the power of community.

Creativity was glowing at this recent resident life and life enrichment event!

Residents got hands-on making whimsical, working night lights using old Coke bottles, papier-mâché,and colorful tissue paper. From upcycling everyday items to lighting up the room, it was a fun, imaginative way to craft something truly one of a kind.

Proof that a little creativity—and a lot of community—can really shine 💡

Recently, pianist Brian Ganz delivered an exhilarating, masterful performance of Chopin, earning a well-deserved standing ovation from attendees. The evening was made even more special as several of our board members joined us to witness the dedication of our new Steinway, marking an exciting milestone for LVMG and the future of performances in this beautiful new space.

It was an inspiring night of music, artistry and celebration.

We pause today to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his enduring legacy of hope, unity, and service to others.

At Lutheran Village at Miller’s Grant, we believe in creating a community rooted in dignity, inclusion, and compassion — values that reflect Dr. King’s vision for a better tomorrow.

May today inspire us all to lead with kindness and make a positive difference in the lives of those around us.

LVMG’s Sales team recently hosted a Q&A event where guests enjoyed a guided tour of our community and received answers to their questions about life here. From exploring the campus to learning what makes LVMG unique, it was a great opportunity to connect and envision what’s possible.

Thanks to everyone who joined us—we loved sharing our community with you!

If you’ve noticed a little extra personality in our dining venues, here’s why! Luther has been busy in the Bistro, and Ann has been on the move in the Pub.

The names were submitted by residents and thoughtfully reviewed by Jeanne Rutkowski, who selected Luther and Ann. The custom dolls were created by Joe Dwyer, who shared a fun fact: the dolls’ arms can be positioned and will stay in place, while the legs move as the robots roll along.

A big thank-you as well to Lois Miller for her contributions in naming these characters and bringing them to life. Just one more example of creativity, collaboration and innovation at LVMG!

We were honored to celebrate the Service of Installation and Holy Communion of The Rev. Meheret Y. Caruthers. Rostered Ministers and members of the Order of St. Stephen vested and processed together, creating a powerful and reverent moment.

The color of the day—red—was worn in keeping with tradition, symbolizing the Holy Spirit and the sacred vocation of pastor.

Following the service, guests gathered in Zest for a warm reception filled with fellowship and celebration. We are grateful for this special day and for Rev. Caruthers’ leadership and ministry within our community.
