The people we support had an absolute blast visiting Luna Cat Collective in Ellicott City! 🐱 Their time with the friendly felines were full of cuddles, playtime and lots of smiles. There's nothing better than spending the day with furry friends. We love having such a fun cat cafe right here in our community! 🐈‍⬛🐈

We've been doing Black History presentations all month long (by staff and people we support), and we're fired up by the inspiring stories of courage and strength!

M.P. delivered a powerful, heartfelt message as she presented history on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and Harriet Tubman. M.P. had previously expressed great interest in wanting to do a presentation for Black History Month. She said, "Black History is very special." Awesome job M.P.! A BIG shoutout also goes to L.A. for his take on Gladys West!

The Arc staff members Christina and Traci were excellent in presenting Sojourner Truth and Stevie Wonder. Good job everyone!

February is Black History Month. Though we're halfway through the month, it's not too late to acknowledge the resilience and contributions of Black leaders, advocates and communities. This month also reminds us that The Arc's mission is rooted in equity, inclusion and respect for all people. Everyday, we celebrate diversity and resilience. Everyday, we create opportunities to provide a full community life for the people we support. Join us!

Our Valentine’s Day celebration at The Arc of Howard County was full of fun, friendship, and creativity! ❤️

Through activities like creating handmade cards, singing, baking, gift giving, and some self-care (thank you, L.A. for setting up a nail salon for the ladies!), people we support built friendships, expressed creativity, and experienced meaningful connection. This is The Arc's mission in action. Simple but powerful.

Today, we are excited and fired up as we join thousands of advocates, supporters and people with IDD, including other chapters of The Arc, for Developmental Disabilities Day in Annapolis. We are here joining our village to advocate for more budget and funding, for us to be heard not just seen. Because disability services is not optional, it is necessary. These are our lives and we are fighting for it! Join us!

Building communication skills is an important part of everyday life for the people we support. Here at The Arc, we help them strengthen these skills in many ways including ASL (American Sign Language). We want them to express their needs, thoughts and feelings freely and confidently!

We are honored to be a recipient of the generosity of the Knights of Columbus Council 7559 - Columbia MD! Their gift will go towards the people we support via our services such as the day program, employment and housing, and community services. Tonight, at their monthly membership meeting, the Knights of Columbus Council 7559 presented a check to the The Arc of Howard County with money raised from their annual Tootsie Roll Drive in support of the Arc's work with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities!
