Here at The Arc, we wish anyone who celebrates Kwanzaa a joyous celebration. Kwanzaa is a non-religious cultural celebration observed by African Americans and people of the African descent. It is a joyful seven-day celebration of Black culture, family, community, and unity, rooted in African harvest festival traditions.

We can't help it. We LOVE to party!!! 🥳 And this season is the best excuse for it. We're sharing more photos of our fun-filled Jingle & Mingle at The Gathering Place, with The Arc staff, people we support, families and friends. There will be more parties next year. Several months ago we sat down with this amazing family to find out . Dan and his parents Cathy and Wayne share their story. Since the interview, Wayne has sadly passed and this makes this story even more special to us. Dan is supported in our Residential and Employment services while Cathy remains a vital volunteer. Wayne shared the joy he got from being part of a committee that monitored our homes. Cherish your loved ones this holiday season, and thanks for listening to this bittersweet interview!

At age 13, Bethany Hamilton, a rising surfer, lost her arm from a shark attack. This did not stop her from surfing. Within a month, she was back in the water and within three months, she joined her first major competition!

Like Bethany, we at The Arc of Howard County believe in making possibility the focus - not limits. Everyday, people we support show what's possible through determination, courage and the right support system. 💛

We had a blast jingling and mingling at our annual Holiday Party a few nights ago at The Gathering Place with catering by Corcoran! There was dancing, so much dancing, and we had fun snapping mini polaroid pictures throughout the night!
