Healthy Acadia is a 501(C)(3) community health organization building vibrant communities and making it easier for all people to lead healthy lives throughout Washington and Hancock counties and across Maine. The scope of our work encompasses six broad areas of focus:

>> Strong Beginnings to support healthy development and resilience from birth to adulthood;

>> Healthy Food for All: ensuring that all people have access to nutritious, affordable food, and to make the healthy choice the easy choice;

>> Active and Healthy Environments: ensuring that our indoor and outdoor spaces are safe, healthy, and promote physical activity and wellness;

>> Healthy Aging: ensuring that all of us can age well β€” with strength, dignity, comfort, and grace;

>> Substance Prevention and Recovery: supporting people of all ages to live lives free of substance misuse and substance use disorder, and to support individuals throughout their recovery journey; and

>> Health Promotion & Management: improving community supports across a wide range of health needs, from cancer patient navigation and stress reduction to barrier removal for health challenges and chronic disease and pain self-management. At Healthy Acadia, it is our priority to maintain our social media platforms as safe and respectful places for sharing and discussing topics related to public health. Posts and content are viewed and shared by the general public, including our youth. Please be respectful of everyone who is interacting through our social media platforms:

Do not use profanity, insensitive or biased language or images, or post or share posts that include verbal attacks such as threats of violence, character insults, or name-calling. Do not post or share spam or advertisements for products or services. If your organization is hosting a community event or providing a public health service that you feel may benefit our community members, please contact us via private message (messenger) or by emailing info@healthyacadia.org. We encourage all community members to comment or ask questions related to the information we post or share, and we will do our best to respond to questions or requests for additional information in a timely manner. Youth To***co Use Trends and Quit Resources

New results from the 2025 Maine Integrated Youth Health Survey (MIYHS) show encouraging news: traditional to***co and va**ng use among students in the Downeast Public Health District (Hancock and Washington counties) has declined since 2023.

However, the survey also shows an increase in the use of newer ni****ne products like pouches, highlighting the need for continued education and support.

Quitting ni****ne can be challenging, but teens don’t have to do it alone. The Maine QuitLink offers free, confidential tools and coaching designed specifically for young people who want help quitting to***co or va**ng.
