A patient in his mid-40s came in for a routine cleaning.
On paper, he was the picture of health...normal blood pressure, exercised regularly, no major medical conditions.
But during his exam, we noticed his gums bled easily. That’s a red flag. He brushed twice a day, but flossing? “Not as much as I should,” he admitted.
Here’s the question we always come back to:
👉 What if bleeding gums aren’t just a mouth problem?
👉 What if they’re the first visible sign of cardiovascular disease?
Because that inflammation doesn’t just stay in your gums. It travels. Bacteria from gum disease can enter the bloodstream, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke.
The good news? He caught it early. With consistent flossing, improved home care, and regular cleanings, we can get inflammation under control and lower that added risk.
Your mouth and your body are connected. A healthy smile = a healthier heart. ❤️🦷
