NEW BLOG- IS IT TOO LATE TO IMPROVE YOUR BALANCE? HOW PHYSICAL THERAPY HELPS PREVENT FALLS AND RESTORE STABILITY

Balance isn’t something you “lose forever”… it’s something that can be trained, improved, and rebuilt at ANY age 💪

Whether it’s feeling unsteady, worried about falls, or noticing changes in stability, the root causes are often things like:
⚡️ Weakness in the legs & core
⚡️ Joint stiffness
⚡️ Slower reaction time
⚡️ Changes in coordination or proprioception

The good news? Physical therapy is designed to target all of these 🔥

With the right program, PT can help you:
✅ Improve strength and stability
✅ Enhance coordination and reaction time
✅ Build confidence with walking and movement
✅ Reduce the risk of falls and injuries

In fact, research shows balance training and strength programs can significantly improve stability and reduce fall risk over time

At Emery Physical Therapy, we meet you where you are and help you move safer, stronger, and more confidently at ANY stage of life 🙌

❌ Coordination difficulties

So we train differently 💡

Using boxing + BlazePods, we can:
✔️ Improve reaction time ⚡
✔️ Challenge balance + coordination
✔️ Stimulate both brain 🧠 + body 💪
✔️ Build confidence with movement

This is more than exercise…

NEW BLOG- CAN PHYSICAL THERAPY RELIEVE PINCHED NERVES AND IMPROVE FUNCTION

⚡️📌 Numbness, tingling, or that sharp “zing” down your arm or leg?
It might not just be muscle pain… it could be a pinched nerve 👀

A pinched nerve happens when surrounding tissues put pressure on a nerve, leading to pain, weakness, or radiating symptoms that can affect your daily life

The good news? 👇
Physical therapy is often one of the MOST effective, non-invasive ways to relieve it by addressing the root cause, not just the symptoms

With the right approach, PT can help:
✅ Reduce nerve compression
✅ Improve mobility & posture
✅ Strengthen supporting muscles
✅ Restore normal movement patterns
✅ Prevent future flare-ups

At Emery Physical Therapy, we focus on creating space for the nerve, improving how your body moves, and helping you get back to living without constant discomfort 💪

👉 Think you might be dealing with a pinched nerve?

Hamstring strain… or sciatica? 👀
They can feel VERY similar — but they’re not the same

Here’s a quick way to think about it 👇

👉 Hamstring strain
✔️ Local pain in the back of the thigh
✔️ Feels tight, sore, or pulled
✔️ Worse with stretching or contracting the muscle

👉 Sciatica
⚡ Pain that travels down the leg
⚡ May include tingling, numbness, or burning
⚡ Often starts from the low back or glute

💡 Different cause = different treatment

If you treat nerve pain like a muscle strain (or vice versa)…
you’ll stay stuck in the same cycle 😬

👉 Not sure which one it is? Get it checked
👉 Save this for the next time your leg starts acting up

NEW BLOG- IN-SEASON ARM AND SHOULDER CARE FOR ATHLETES: PREVENT INJURY AND IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

In-season = when athletes are pushed the hardest…
and when injuries are most likely to sneak in 👀

Throwing, swinging, serving—repeat 🔁
Your arms and shoulders take on a TON of stress throughout the season

Without proper care, fatigue can lead to:
⚡️ Shoulder pain
⚡️ Elbow strain
⚡️ Decreased performance
⚡️ Increased injury risk

That’s why in-season arm & shoulder care is so important 👇

✅ Maintains strength & mobility
✅ Improves recovery between games/practices
✅ Helps prevent overuse injuries
✅ Keeps performance consistent all season long

Repetitive overhead motion places significant stress on the shoulder, making mobility, stability, and proper recovery essential for staying healthy and competitive

At Emery Physical Therapy, we help athletes stay strong, recover smarter, and perform at their best, all season long 🔥

NEW BLOG- PREVENT SUMMER ARTHRITIS FLARE-UPS WITH PROACTIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY FOR LONG-TERM JOINT HEALTH

If you deal with arthritis, you’ve probably noticed flare-ups don’t just happen in winter 😬
Heat, humidity, dehydration, and activity changes can all trigger increased pain and stiffness

💥 More swelling
💥 More fatigue
💥 Less mobility

The good news? You’re not stuck with it.

Proactive physical therapy can help you:
✅ Improve joint mobility & circulation
✅ Build strength to support your joints
✅ Reduce stiffness and inflammation patterns
✅ Stay active without triggering flare-ups

Simple habits like staying hydrated, moving consistently, and pacing activity can make a BIG difference in managing symptoms long-term

At Emery Physical Therapy, we focus on keeping you moving comfortably not just reacting to pain after it shows up 💪

Not every “frozen shoulder” is actually a frozen shoulder 👀

That term gets thrown around A LOT… but true frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is very specific:

👉 It involves the joint capsule
👉 Can trigger intense inflammation
👉 And may cause a sudden loss of motion almost overnight

💡 The problem?
A lot of shoulder pain + stiffness comes from OTHER issues — not the capsule

Which means…
❌ Wrong diagnosis = wrong treatment

If your shoulder feels stiff, painful, or limited:
👉 Don’t guess
👉 Get it properly evaluated

Because the right diagnosis = faster, better results

NEW BLOG- PREVENT ACL INJURIES AND OPTIMIZE KNEE HEALTH WITH PROACTIVE PHYSICAL THERAPY

Up to 70–80% of ACL injuries are non-contact, meaning it’s not bad luck… it’s movement patterns, strength, and control

🚫 Poor landing mechanics
🚫 Weak hips & core
🚫 Lack of control during cutting or pivoting

That’s where proactive physical therapy comes in 👇

✅ Builds strength in glutes, hamstrings, and core (your knee’s real support system)
✅ Improves balance, coordination, and reaction time
✅ Trains proper jumping & landing mechanics
✅ Reduces risk of injury AND boosts performance

In fact, targeted prevention programs can reduce ACL injury risk by up to 30–50% 💪

At Emery Physical Therapy, we don’t wait for injuries, we help you stay ahead of them
