During the time leading up to labor I develop a relationship with the mom-to-be. She will feel welcomed to ask questions, express her fears and concerns, and take an active role in planning her birth. I make myself available to the mother by phone call or text in order to respond to her questions and address any concerns that might come up during her pregnancy. I do not provide any type of medical care, but my training has made me knowledgeable in many medical aspects of labor and delivery. Therefore, I can help moms gain a better understanding of procedures in pregnancy and delivery. When moms are in labor I am in constant and close proximity. I have the ability to provide assistance with pain-relief techniques including comforting touch, breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, constant encouragement and laboring positions. I also like to encourage participation from the partner and always offer them reassurance. My goal as a Doula is to help the mom experience a positive and safe birth, whether an un-medicated birth or a cesarean. After the birth, I will spend time helping mom begin the breastfeeding process. I strongly encourage bonding between the new baby, mom and other family members. After mom and baby have returned home and have settled in I will visit. I will check if there is any additional services or referrals that I can help connect mom with, such as a lactation consultant or a post postpartum Doula. My Doula Package:
1. Two Prenatal visits (typically in moms home)
2. Attend the entire birth and remain with you for 1-3 hours after labor
3. One Postpartum visit (typically takes place 1-2 weeks after baby has come home)
I love to stay in touch (if the mother desires)! My philosophy as a Doula:
Women are designed to experience birth and are powerful beings. My desire as a Doula is to support you in a way that encourages you to achieve your goals and desires for birth, as well as one that keeps mom and baby healthy.
