When Democracy Fails

When democracy fails,
The people feel lost,
Our voices silenced,
Our hopes and dreams tossed.

When democracy fails,
The world falls apart,
The people are helpless,
Our dreams torn apart.

The leaders, once chosen,
To serve and protect,
Now serve their own interests,
Their people neglect.

The rights once granted,
Are taken away,
The people are left,
With nothing to say.

Corruption and greed,
Bribery and deceit,
The pillars of power,
Are what they entreat.

The rights of the people,
Once held so dear,
Are now trampled upon,
By those once revered.

The world is divided,
Into the haves and the have-nots,
The rich get richer,
the poor left with naught.

The masses cry out,
For justice and change,
But our voices drowned out,
By the leaders' derange.

When democracy fails,
The people must rise,
To fight for our freedoms,
To seek truth, our prize.

We must hold them accountable,
And demand what is right,
For true democracy,
Is so worth the fight.
