This week, we had a wonderful surprise at the firehouse when Judi Hill stopped by with a donation made in memory of her husband — and our great friend — Marc Hill.

We can’t thank you enough, Judi, for thinking of us. Your kindness and generosity mean so much to everyone here. Marc is truly missed around town— his laughter, his stories, and the friendships he built will always be remembered by our firehouse family.

From all of us, thank you for honoring his memory in such a special way.

Today Elsberry Fire was represented well as Chief Killian and Firefighter Noah Killian participated in the 9/11 stairclimb in Clayton, Mo. The stairclimb is held every year to honor the 343 firefighters, 71 police officers, and 8 EMS workers that tragically lost their lives in the attacks on the twin towers on 9/11/2001.
The stair climb consists of firefighters climbing 110 flights of stairs to replicate the 110 floors that were in the twin towers when emergency personnel went in, without regard for their own lives, to try and save as many people as they could. Thank you Chief Killian and Firefighter Killian for honoring the memory of those brave first responders!

Sorry for the late post, we have been waiting for the official list of all the great Mutual Aid partners that assisted us with our historic situation that occurred Saturday evening into Sunday morning. While words can't even begin to describe our gratitude we want to thank each Department that was able to come and assist us. Without each of you this already tragic event would of been far worse. Thank you
Lincoln County MO Sheriff’s Office, Elsberry Police Department , Missouri Department of Conservation,Winfield Foley Fire Protection, Lincoln County Fire Protection District #1, Eolia Community Fire Protection District ,O'Fallon Fire Protection District , Lake St. Louis Fire Protection Districn, Wentzville Fire Protection District, St. Charles County Fire, Wright City Fire Protection District, Central County Fire Department, Lincoln County Ambulance District Lincoln County Emergency Management, Lincoln County Dispatch, Lincoln County Road and Bridge Department, City of Elsberry Maintenance Crews, Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), Ameren Missouri – Linemen, Cuivre River Electric Cooperative – Linemen!
We also want to give a huge shout out to Paul Labanca for getting out of bed in the middle of the night during historic flooding to drive a school bus to shuttle our citizens, that were pulled out of their flooded homes, from the staging areas to the shelter at the Methodist Church!

We would also like to thank Southern Grace Coffee, Shooters Saloon, the Methodist Church, their amazing volunteers, and the members of city hall that came out to help for opening up their establishments to help shelter and stage victims. They provided shelter, food, coffee and a small sense of security in a hopeless situation.

Last but definitely not least we want thank our own Firefighters for answering the call and giving their all. Our Firefighters not only showed up and gave everything they had during the flooding, they stayed answering calls and helping our community through the whole day Sunday. Most of them were going for more than 36hrs without sleep or rest. Our Chief while on duty at Lincoln County Fire was part of the crew that was sent to help, he stayed all night with his Lincoln County Crew and immediately after his shift was back as acting Chief at the Firehouse. Our Assistant Chief ran calls all night and all day using his personal vehicle to be able to rescue people from flooded waters. Our Lieutenant and Captain worked well into the next day. The other 2 Elsberry Firefighters that were able to show up, one was a Junior and the other stayed well into late Sunday afternoon. We are blessed to have these individuals that are willing to come risk their lives for a community that they love!
