We’re pleased to share that federal funding for cerebral palsy is in place for FY 2026, following the bipartisan passage of Congressional legislation that includes continued support for CDC cerebral palsy surveillance at key sites throughout the US.

Because of years of advocacy by the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, this surveillance has revealed a critical truth: cerebral palsy prevalence in the United States is not decreasing, unlike in many other countries. That data drives prevention efforts, earlier diagnosis, and better treatment options across the lifespan.

As we get ready to mark 20 years since the creation of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month in March, we’re grateful for the CP community who has tirelessly advocated for research funding and policy change, and the bipartisan Congressional leadership that made this funding possible.

Last April I shared the story of Zayden from Axtell who wore a sweatshirt in honor of his brother with Cerebral Palsy to a Harlem Globetrotters game.

The sweatshirt read "Never Give Up."

After the game, one of the Globetrotters spotted the message on Zayden’s sweatshirt and walked over to talk with him.

Zayden explained he was a triplet, and his brother had CP. The player listened, then reached into his bag and pulled out his game shoes.

Across the sides, written in marker, were the same words: “Never give up.”

He placed the shoes in Zayden’s hands and told him they were his to keep.

Once a year. Zayden's mom, Ashley, sells apparel to raise money for a scholarship for an Axtell senior who has faced some kind of adversity or is pursuing a degree in physical, occupational, or speech therapy—or special education.

Last year, I made myself a note, to make sure and find out when the 2026 shop was going to open and help spread the world.

Ashley just messaged and said this year's store officially opened this week and end March 1st.

B ditched his casts and caught his first flight to St. Louis for his 4 month post op visit. Crazy to think it’s already been four months!! Everyone was very pleased with his recovery and progress. His team kept telling us how much potential he has 👏 Keep working hard Barrett, you’ll do amazing things! ✈️
