Muscles can contract, but they can't push. They only pull!
This is why muscles work in pairs called agonist and antagonist. When one muscle contracts to move a joint one way, its partner relaxes. Then the partner contracts to move the joint back.
For example:
Your bicep pulls your arm up (flexion)
Your tricep pulls your arm down (extension)
Here's the key: joint mobility matters just as much as muscle flexibility!
If a joint isn't moving properly, the muscles around it can't work efficiently—no matter how strong or flexible they are. This is why you might feel tight or weak even after stretching or strengthening.
