Fell during pregnancy? This is worth a read. 💜

The Mayo Clinic recently shared guidance on what to do if you fall while pregnant, including how your body protects your baby, when a fall is usually low-risk, and when it’s important to contact your provider (especially later in pregnancy). It’s a helpful, evidence-based breakdown that answers a lot of common questions.

Check out the full Mayo Clinic article, and if you have concerns or want personalized care, our team is always here for you.

If you’re currently in full “freak out” mode, pause.

Before you spiral, before you tell everyone, before you make any big decisions… confirm.

Home pregnancy tests are highly accurate when used correctly, but they aren’t perfect. The first step is confirming how far along you are and whether the pregnancy is progressing.

An ultrasound gives you clarity.

If your brain is replaying the last three weeks on repeat, give us a call first. We’ll walk through it with you.

🏅 In the second trimester? It’s your golden hour. Literally.

For many women, this is when the fog lifts. The nausea eases up. Energy starts to come back. Your bump is finally showing, and pregnancy feels a little more real and a little more manageable.

Weeks 13 through 27 are often called the “golden trimester” for a reason. You may feel stronger, clearer, and more like yourself again.

That makes it the perfect time to be intentional.

Here are five smart choices to help you make the most of your golden hour. ⬇️

Third trimester symptoms checklist ✅

• Tight/heavy belly

• Pelvic pressure + waddling

• Swollen fingers/ankles

• Achy hips/back

• Light/broken sleep

If you’re nodding along… same. Many of these changes happen as baby and your body prepare for birth.

Send this to someone who needs the reminder that this is normal, and you’re doing great. If you have concerns, call your provider.

It’s Sunday, and pregnancy doesn’t have to mean sitting at home Googling “why does toast make me emotional?”

It can look like:

Grabbing a coffee and taking yourself on a bookstore self-date in Tremont or Coventry. ☕

Going for a walk. If the weather is questionable, wander through the Cleveland Museum of Art. If it’s nice out, hit a Metroparks trail and get some fresh air. 🚶‍♀️

Heading to Edgewater, because it is the closest thing Ohio has to an actual beach and we’re claiming it. 🌊

Stopping by a farmers market and stock up on the vegetables you need for the two of you. 🥕

Or taking a yoga or Pilates class. (Or whatever movement makes you feel strong). 🧘‍♀️

The point is, pregnancy friendly can still be fun. So today, shake off those Ohio winter blues and get active.

You got this, mama!

Pregnancy tests detect human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), a hormone your body produces after a fertilized egg implants.

Sounds simple, right? It mostly is. But a few details can make a big difference.

Here are some lesser-known but true facts about at-home pregnancy tests that often surprise people:

1️⃣ Time of day actually matters. First-morning urine is usually most accurate early on because it’s more concentrated with hCG. Testing later in the day can dilute results.

2️⃣ A faint line is still positive. If there’s color in the test line within the instructed time frame, even very faint, it usually means hCG is present.

3️⃣ Digital tests aren’t “more accurate.” They use the same science as line tests. They just display the result differently.

4️⃣ Some medications can affect results. Fertility treatments that contain hCG can cause false positives. Most other medications do not.

5️⃣ Very early miscarriage can look like a false positive. Sometimes a test is positive because implantation occurred briefly, then hormone levels drop. This is called a chemical pregnancy, and many women never realize it happened.

That’s why confirmation matters.

The most reliable next step is an ultrasound, which confirms how far along you are and whether the pregnancy is progressing.

And the best part? Confirmation can be free, confidential, and provided by caring professionals who walk you through your next steps.

Having “the talk” about a pregnancy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re worried about how someone might react.

If you’re anxious, try using this simple communication framework therapists often recommend:

1️⃣ Before the conversation, calm your nervous system. Take a few slow breaths. Go for a short walk. Journal what you’re feeling. You’ll think more clearly if you’re not in fight-or-flight mode.

2️⃣ Focus on your experience instead of predicting theirs.

“I just found out I’m pregnant.”
“I’m feeling scared and unsure.”
“I need support right now.”

This reduces defensiveness and keeps the conversation grounded.

3️⃣ Set the tone early by saying things like, “I’m telling you because I trust you,” or “I don’t have everything figured out yet.” This helps frame the conversation with vulnerability, not conflict.

4️⃣ Expect there to be emotion. Initial reactions are often emotional, not thoughtful. Psychologists call this the “first response reflex.” Give space for processing. A strong first reaction does not always reflect long-term support.

5️⃣ Have someone else you can call afterward, no matter how it goes. Feeling supported lowers stress and helps you stay steady.

And if you want help preparing for that conversation or confirming your pregnancy, we’re here to walk through it with you.
