CITIZENS OF ONSLOW COUNTY, PLEASE READ

With the holiday season in full swing, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of scammers becoming increasingly sophisticated in their attempts to target local residents.

These individuals are now spoofing the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office phone number (910-455-3113) to make their calls appear legitimate, hoping to deceive citizens into believing they are speaking with law enforcement.

During these calls, scammers continue to attempt to trick citizens out of money by claiming they have missed jury duty or have a warrant for their arrest and must pay a fine to avoid arrest. Scammers will demand money through untraceable methods such as BITCOIN, GIFT CARDS, PAYMENT APPS, etc.

PLEASE REMEMBER, THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE WILL NEVER CALL AND DEMAND PAYMENT OF FINES, FEES, OR BAIL.

Scammers have even deterred citizens from coming to the Sheriff's Office to report the activity, claiming they would be arrested immediately.

If you or someone you know believes they are being scammed, please hang up and call the Sheriff's Office at 910-455-3113 to speak with a deputy.
