Lakeside Senior Care and Assisted Living Whether you need nursing care, support with daily tasks or just don't want to mow another lawn. Lakeside has a special care unit called “The Haven”.

In July 1968 the first five residents were admitted to Lakeside Lutheran Home. Lakeside was dreamt of and brought to fruition by seven partnering Lutheran churches, all whom had Christian concerns for our community. Since then Lakeside has helped many community members of Emmetsburg and the local area. Lakeside is a licensed Medicare/Medicaid nursing facility with a capacity of 60 residents. Lakeside offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy to those who are recuperating from surgery, illness or hospitalization. The Haven was built to serve individuals with a primary diagnosis of an irreversible dementia such as Alzheimer’s. Common features of this program include a segregated living unit with special design features of dining and socialization. Family support and staff training are provided. Lakeside Assisted Living, a new 12 unit certified assisted living facility, opened recently, and it is attached to Lakeside Lutheran Home. This new level of care enhances the overall services provided in this Christian, non-profit setting.

Lakeside was fortunate to receive four generous grants from the Smith Foundation, and we'd like to share how these contributions are making a difference in our community.

One of the grants funded the purchase of a new conveyor toaster for our kitchen. This valuable addition has significantly streamlined our breakfast service, allowing our staff to effortlessly toast bread for residents every morning. The consistent, perfectly toasted slices have become a favorite among residents, enhancing their dining experience. We're all incredibly grateful for this upgrade, which has truly improved our kitchen operations and the overall quality of our meals.

Additionally, Jesse, our dedicated maintenance director, received a new drain snake through the grant. This tool has greatly increased his efficiency, enabling him to quickly and effectively clear drains without the need for external contractors. Jesse can now address plumbing issues promptly, saving time and resources, and ensuring our facility runs smoothly.

We sincerely thank the Smith Foundation for their support, which helps us continue to improve and provide the best possible environment for our residents and staff.

Lakeside staff and residents celebrated a wonderful Valentine’s Day together this past Friday! We enjoyed delicious Valentine’s cookies baked by our talented residents and staff, and shared plenty of fun, laughter, and love with family and friends.

A heartfelt thank you to all of you for trusting us to care for your loved ones. They have truly become part of our family, and we’re so grateful to be part of your lives. Our family keeps growing, and we cherish every moment together.

About Us

We are a Skilled Care Nursing Home with an attached, Certified Assisted Living, located in Emmetsburg, IA. We are a licensed Medicare/Medicaid facility, with the capacity for 60 residents in the nursing facility and 12 in the assisted living.

We offer Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT) and Speech Therapy (ST) to those who are recuperating from surgery, illness or hospitalization.

Here at Lakeside Senior Care, we have a special care unit called “The Haven”. The Haven was built to serve individuals with a primary diagnosis of an irreversible dementia such as Alzheimer’s. Lakeside is happy to have an ongoing relationship with the Emmetsburg Education Center for over 2 years now. The EEC is a pre-school/daycare here in Emmetsburg, IA. They visit us every Thursday morning and is a wonderful highlight to our week. We encourage you to join us for an activity anytime.
