Families told us they needed clearer, more practical guidance on how to support a loved one affected by drug or alcohol use. We listened.

As part of the Shapiro Administration’s commitment to supporting families impacted by substance use disorder, we developed the Family Learning Series—a free, on-demand set of short videos to help families and loved ones navigate prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery supports.

Each 10–15 minute module offers guidance on topics like:
• what to expect when someone enters treatment
• setting healthy boundaries and caring for yourself
• talking with and supporting children
• finding trusted treatment and recovery resources across Pennsylvania

Whether you’re looking for a starting point or reassurance that you’re not alone, the series is here to support you.

We couldn’t resist the — and the chance to highlight that Certified Recovery Specialists (CRSs) are the real-life superheroes of recovery, their invisible capes powered by the experience they carry and the empathy they share. 💥

Across Pennsylvania, CRSs are a vital part of our county drug and alcohol offices’ recovery support services — trained peers who guide and walk beside people on their recovery journey every day. 💜
