When your hip hurts, your first instinct is usually to rest it. 😬

You stop walking as far. You stop taking the stairs. You definitely stop working out. You figure if you just give it enough time, the inflammation will settle down.

But if you’ve been resting your hip for weeks and it still hurts when you finally try to move it, you’ve discovered the hard way that rest is a terrible strategy for joint pain.

Here is what happens when you stop moving a painful hip: the muscles surrounding the joint begin to atrophy. The joint capsule itself produces less synovial fluid — the natural lubricant that keeps the joint gliding smoothly. 😉The longer you rest, the stiffer, drier, and weaker the joint becomes.

Rest doesn’t heal a painful hip. Intelligent loading does.

🙌🏻Therapeutic Pilates is the bridge between resting and risking injury. Using the reformer, we can offload the weight of gravity while still moving the hip through its full range of motion. 😲If you’ve ever crossed your legs before a sneeze, skipped the trampoline at the gym, or planned your entire running route around public restrooms, I need you to hear this.

You are not broken. And it is not “just a normal part of getting older.”

🧐The fitness industry has completely normalized women leaking during exercise. They tell you to just wear a pad, modify the jump, or accept that your body changed after kids or menopause.
That is terrible advice.

Your pelvic floor is a muscle. And just like any other muscle in your body, when it stops doing its job, it doesn’t need a band-aid. It needs to be rebuilt.

The problem is, you can’t fix a weak pelvic floor by doing more crunches, running harder, or holding your breath through another boot camp. In fact, high-impact workouts usually make the problem worse by driving downward pressure onto an already exhausted system.

Here’s a fact nobody wants to tell you:
Every year after menopause, your body is quietly changing…especially your skeleton 😏
No warning. No pain. No symptoms.

Until one day you trip on a curb, reach for something on a shelf, or sneeze too hard — and you fracture a bone.
