Hi all, when I started the podcast and this page, I had absolutely no idea where it would take me but I KNEW I absolutely had to start learning and getting the word out. Shortly thereafter I signed up for ADHD Coach training. The book was next. My life and understanding of ADHD was so drastically changed I knew others lives would change too. So I have to confess, social media has been one more “to do” and one that doesn’t “inspire” me. And you know what this means for an ADHD brain, if we aren’t interested in something, we have a hard time doing it consistently. With all that said, I now know exactly what I want to do and am inspired to do it. It’s going to be life changing for all of us.
We need each other. Together we will gain understanding, self acceptance and ultimately we will build a life that is easier.

Stop doing life on hard mode!

So many of us with ADHD spent decades pushing harder, masking, overworking, and wondering why life still felt exhausting — even when we were “successful.”

In this clip, Dr. Eliza Barach, a cognitive psychologist, ADHD coach, and proud ADHDer, explains why finally understanding your ADHD changes everything. Dr. Barach works with high-achieving adults who have spent years excelling on the outside while silently struggling on the inside — helping them understand their brains, regulate emotions, and build systems that actually work in real life.

When you know how your brain works, you can stop blaming yourself, create your own “life manual,” and use strategies that finally support your ADHD brain instead of fighting it.

Because ADHD isn’t about trying harder — it’s about having the right tools.

If you’ve ever thought, “Why is this so much harder for me than everyone else?"... listen to the full episode on Spotify, Apple, or YouTube.

Breaking the ADHD Spending Cycle

Impulse buying. Half-finished projects. Money wasted on things we were sure we’d use.

That’s the ADHD spending cycle — and it’s not a lack of willpower.

In this clip from Grandma Has ADHD, Jami Shapiro shares how Sparkler Society (her built ADHD community) is designed to help ADHD women break impulsive spending patterns through accountability, community, and support that actually works.

ADHD doesn’t need more discipline — it needs better systems.

✨ Especially for women diagnosed later in life.

Have you ever wondered why life feels more expensive, exhausting, and complicated when you have ADHD?

Expired food you forgot was there.
Rush fees for last-minute gifts.
Packages you meant to return… but missed the window.
That’s not a personal failure — it’s the ADHD tax.

In this clip from the Grandma Has ADHD podcast, host Jami Shapiro is joined by her longtime friend Lynn Layfield for an honest conversation about the hidden costs of ADHD, why life often feels like it’s set to “hard mode,” and how building the right support systems can make everything easier — especially for women diagnosed later in life.

If you’re a woman over 50 with ADHD (diagnosed or questioning), this clip will feel very familiar — and very validating.

Meet Julian, owner of Ampra.ai, who’s been working with Jami for the past few months. In his words, weekly ADHD coaching has completely changed the way he understands his brain, his workflow, and his strengths as an entrepreneur.

Most founders have ADHD—even if they don’t realize it—and having the right support can turn overwhelm into clarity and momentum. If you’ve been wondering whether ADHD coaching might help you too, Julian’s experience says it all. ❤

Healthy love isn’t confusing — it feels safe, steady, and supportive.

In this clip from the Grandma Has ADHD podcast, Jami is joined by Kate Mageau, a licensed therapist, ADHD coach, author, and domestic violence survivor who teaches women how to recognize toxic patterns and build relationships rooted in safety and self-trust.

Together, they talk about what real green flags look like in relationships, especially for people with ADHD:

✨ Someone who gives you space but still shows genuine interest
✨ Someone who respects your boundaries without guilt or pushback
✨ Someone who treats everyone with kindness — including waitstaff and strangers
✨ Someone whose actions consistently match their words

And ultimately, it comes down to this:

How do you feel around them?
Do you feel happy?
Do you feel safe?
Do you feel free?

Your body always tells the truth long before your mind does.
When people show you who they are — believe them.

If you're dating with ADHD or learning to trust yourself again after unhealthy relationships, this moment will resonate deeply. 💛

Many people with ADHD don’t fall into toxic relationships because they’re broken — they fall in because their brain is wired to chase dopamine, thrill, and novelty.

When calm feels uncomfortable and chaos feels familiar, it’s easy to mistake intensity for love.

In this clip from the Grandma Has ADHD podcast, Jami is joined by Kate Mageau, licensed therapist, ADHD coach, author, and domestic violence survivor, who helps women recognize toxic relationship patterns and rebuild trust in themselves.

Together, they talk about:
✅ Red flags vs. green flags in relationships
✅ Why the ADHD brain craves excitement and urgency
✅ Why peaceful love can feel “wrong” at first
✅ How to stop repeating unhealthy patterns

If you’ve ever wondered why stable love feels boring, this is for you.

✅ Start projects but never finish them
✅ Feel overwhelmed by daily tasks
✅ Procrastinate or lose track of time
✅ Know you’re capable of more — but can’t seem to follow through
✅ Struggle with your emotions or relationships

Good news: this is exactly where I can help.

One of my big takeaways from the ADHD International Conference hit so close to home: most of our stress comes from the extra steps we add before we even start.

I realized I delayed this podcast for months because I wanted everything to be perfect — the sound, the tech, the setup. But the moment I allowed myself to keep it simple, everything shifted.

It’s the same with everyday things… even going to the gym. The more steps we stack, the harder it is to follow through. But when we remove the barriers? Things finally feel doable.

If you’re wired like me, here’s your nudge:
Make it easy. Make it simple. And just start — perfect is the enemy of done!!
