🧡 You may notice our profile icon has gone orange this month — and there's a reason for that.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the people we support, raise awareness about inclusion, and affirm that people with developmental disabilities are valued members of our communities.

Did you know that people with disabilities are the largest minority group in the world?

According to the WHO's World Report on Disability (2023), approximately 1.3 billion people worldwide live with some form of disability - about 16% of the global population.

Yet people with intellectual and developmental disabilities remain among the most isolated and excluded from everyday community life. At Allied Community Services, we're changing that through programs that support independence, build connections, and ensure everyone has a place where they belong. Learn more at alliedgroup.org/our-services/.

The source, WHO's World Report on Disability, 2023, appears in small text along the bottom.
