So often we get messages from society to define ourself by our looks, job, income, relationship status, career, home etc. This often leads to disappointment and dissatisfaction as there's always someone out there that has something we don't and comparisons is a game nobody ever really wins.
Positive self-esteem is critical to having good mental health. Unfortunately comparing ourselves to others and using these things to define ourselves (that I listed in the post) absolutely DO NOT help our self-esteem.
Therapy can help you identify things you love about yourself already or grow your appreciation for inner qualities that you haven't really considered before. This can have a HUGE impact on how your mental health is.
The harder we are on ourselves, the worse our mental health gets.
Self-compassion, warmness and appreciation for ourselves outside of the things listed in this post is key to living a happy & peaceful life!
