ADHD brains often want to sprint right through discomfort, but discomfort doesn’t disappear that way.

Pausing gives you the opportunity to organize what matters most, check in with your body, and approach your next move with more confidence, not just more effort.

Pausing isn’t optional, it’s a pathway to better focus!

ADHD can make emotion and energy feel intense and unpredictable.

When you always push forward, your system accumulates tension and burnout becomes more likely. By learning to pause, notice what you’re feeling, breathe, and re-center you create space for your brain’s natural rhythm to catch up.

✨ You deserve to move forward with ease, not exhaustion.

Some people avoid therapy because they think they need a crisis, a neat story, or a big emotional moment waiting to be revealed. But many folks start therapy and are unsure of what to say or where to begin...and that’s okay!

Therapy isn’t about having a perfectly scripted story. It’s about showing up with curiosity, honesty, and willingness to explore what’s already there. Even if you can’t always see it.

Let us support you on this journey one step at a time!

Starting therapy can feel intimidating because it asks you to be vulnerable and trust someone with parts of your life that feel heavy or confusing.

That nervousness doesn’t mean you’re weak or unready, it means you’re human. Many people feel unsure before their first session and that’s completely normal.

If you’ve ever wondered whether therapy might help but felt stuck at “what if,” we’re here to walk with you. You don’t have to have all the answers before you begin.

Reach out to us to learn more about how we can meet you where you are at.

In relationships where ADHD is present, it’s common for one partner to feel forgotten while the other feels constantly behind or misunderstood. Neither experience is wrong.

Learning how ADHD affects relationship dynamics can help both partners feel more understood and less alone in the struggle.

Couples counseling can help you and your partner navigate challenges you may be having. Creating a supportive space for the both of you.

The Story of Catalyss Counseling

Catalyss Counseling became a business in 2014, with two original partners creating a small group therapy practice. After one of the partners left in 2016 to go to the Peace Corps, Shannon Heers took over as owner and president. At that time Catalyss Counseling was located in the Chase Bank building in Englewood.

In 2018, Shannon Heers relocated Catalyss Counseling to a new office just west and south of the Chase Building, to 750 W. Hampden Ave., while staying in Englewood. In 2019, Catalyss Counseling expanded to become a group practice with the hiring of two additional licensed therapists, Kristen Dammer and Jennifer Kubilus. Catalyss Counseling was now able to provide additional appointment times to the Denver community, including expanded evening and weekend hours.

In 2019, Catalyss Counseling also refined its niche to focus on helping anxious adults change their thinking patterns, caregivers process their stress, and women recover from their trauma. Our other treatment focuses remain depression, stress management/work-related stress, and women’s issues. Our trauma specialist offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) treatment for trauma, a non-traditional therapy technique that has shown to be effective in treating past trauma and traumatic events.

In 2020, Catalyss Counseling expanded even further! We hired 2 additional licensed therapists to work with adults facing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and trauma, and now we have a maternal mental health specialist available. We are able to offer services 7 days a week, continuing to offer evening and weekend sessions in addition to daytime hours, for your convenience.
