In relationships where ADHD is present, it’s common for one partner to feel forgotten while the other feels constantly behind or misunderstood. Neither experience is wrong.

Learning how ADHD affects relationship dynamics can help both partners feel more understood and less alone in the struggle.

Couples counseling can help you and your partner navigate challenges you may be having. Creating a supportive space for the both of you.

The holidays can amplify all the things that already feel hard with ADHD. The noise, the schedule changes, the pressure to be “on” and keep up. If you’ve felt scattered, overstimulated, or disconnected from yourself this season, you’re not alone.

Grounding isn’t about being perfectly calm, it’s about creating small moments where your brain can settle. Even one simple ritual can help you feel more steady.

You deserve a holiday that works with your ADHD, not against it.

With ADHD, sensory overload can sneak up fast during the holidays.

Crowded stores, bright lights, constant plans it’s a lot.

Grounding techniques can help you feel anchored again, whether it’s stepping outside for air or taking a moment to hydrate and pause.

You deserve to feel present, not just overstimulated. Therapy can also help resolve this overload by giving you space to unpack your overwhelming feelings.

The Story of Catalyss Counseling

Catalyss Counseling became a business in 2014, with two original partners creating a small group therapy practice. After one of the partners left in 2016 to go to the Peace Corps, Shannon Heers took over as owner and president. At that time Catalyss Counseling was located in the Chase Bank building in Englewood.

In 2018, Shannon Heers relocated Catalyss Counseling to a new office just west and south of the Chase Building, to 750 W. Hampden Ave., while staying in Englewood. In 2019, Catalyss Counseling expanded to become a group practice with the hiring of two additional licensed therapists, Kristen Dammer and Jennifer Kubilus. Catalyss Counseling was now able to provide additional appointment times to the Denver community, including expanded evening and weekend hours.

In 2019, Catalyss Counseling also refined its niche to focus on helping anxious adults change their thinking patterns, caregivers process their stress, and women recover from their trauma. Our other treatment focuses remain depression, stress management/work-related stress, and women’s issues. Our trauma specialist offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) treatment for trauma, a non-traditional therapy technique that has shown to be effective in treating past trauma and traumatic events.

In 2020, Catalyss Counseling expanded even further! We hired 2 additional licensed therapists to work with adults facing anxiety, depression, grief, stress, and trauma, and now we have a maternal mental health specialist available. We are able to offer services 7 days a week, continuing to offer evening and weekend sessions in addition to daytime hours, for your convenience.
