April is Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month, a time to spread awareness and educate others about the impact of limb loss on individuals. Here are some powerful facts and stats to help you understand this important topic:

Over 2 million Americans live with limb loss, and that number is expected to double by 2050.

75% of all amputations in the U.S. are related to vascular disease (such as diabetes and peripheral artery disease).

Each year, more than 185,000 amputations are performed in the U.S.

Limb difference at birth affects approximately 1 in 1,900 live births globally.

Prosthetic technology has evolved drastically, allowing users to live more active, independent lives than ever before.

Limb loss doesn’t mean a loss of potential. Through innovations in prosthetics, individuals can regain mobility, independence, and quality of life. Let’s continue to raise awareness and break the stigma around limb loss.
