I had to drive to St Armand's circle in Sarasota. Traffic is hideous. I had to wait for 3 traffic lights cycles to get through. We are beyond our capacity to handle people in Sarasota in the winter months. New housing developments should be stopped until the infrastructure can handle the people and vehicles.
During hurricane, it presents a problem for people trying to leave the area. I was also on Siesta Key and couldn't believe how many homes have been left unrepaired after the hurricanes. I was told it was a combination of insurance companies not paying claims, property insuance being so high and building codes obstacles. It's obvious hurricanes have lasting damage especially to people that were marginal to start with.
