Share Medical Center - A St. Anthony Hospital Affiliate is one of our STAR AWARD winners! They host any Alva Community Blood Drive every month and help ensure their community’s blood supply! ❤️⭐️

🌟❤️ Celebrating a Life-Saving Impact in Our Community

We’re incredibly proud to share that Share Medical Center has been recognized by the Our Blood Institute in Enid as a top hospital blood drive performer!

Eric Driskill with the OBI presented Koleta Burton and our amazing team with the STAR Award- a special recognition given to fewer than 10% of medical partners who go above and beyond to be part of the solution in saving lives.

Here’s what our community made possible together from April 2025 - April 2026:

🩸 10 blood drives hosted
🩸 152 donations collected
🩸 410 RBCs delivered
🩸 456 patients’ lives impacted

In a rural area like ours, where the nearest blood supply is over an hour away, this matters more than ever. Because of you, life-saving care stays close to home.

💬 Koko shared, “Having blood available locally can make all the difference in an emergency. It also allows patients who need regular transfusions to receive care right here, without the burden of traveling.” She added, “We’re so grateful for the recognition of our blood drive efforts. These drives happen monthly, and anyone in our community can step in and make a real impact.”

📅 Our next blood drive is Tuesday, May 19th from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM- we’d love to see you there!

Our Story

Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI) is the sixth largest, non profit blood center in America. OBI employs nearly 700 Oklahomans and works with 1,000 volunteers and 2,600 blood drive coordinators. Every drop of blood needed by patients in more than 140 medical facilities in Oklahoma is provided by donors with OBI. This includes exclusive service for every hospital in the metro-OKC area. More than 125,000 donors provide more than 250,000 gifts of blood yearly for transfusion and associated clinical services. Every two seconds, someone needs blood, yet less than ten percent of those eligible to give blood do it. Blood donors with Oklahoma Blood Institute know they are, literally, saving the lives of their friends, family and co-workers, some who may have no idea they will need blood in an urgent situation. One blood donation can save up to three peoples’ lives.
