Educating students in northwest Oklahoma about job opportunities within the health care system is a key part of ensuring positions at the facility remain filled with qualified employees. Tracy Andersen, director of information systems at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, partnered with the Autry Technology Center Advisory Committee to host morning and afternoon sessions for technology students focused on careers in health care.

Members of St. Mary’s information systems team shared examples of the systems they manage, explained daily responsibilities and demonstrated how technology supports nearly every aspect of patient care. The team also discussed steps students can take to prepare for entering the job market.

During each session, students had hands-on opportunities with technology used at the hospital and were able to ask questions of staff members who participated in the presentations.
