Most airlines allow cremated remains on board as carry-on or checked baggage, but the container holding the remains must pass through the x-ray machine or it will not be allowed through security. Cremated remains can also be air-shipped as cargo but only by "known shippers." In addition, to transport remains on an airplane you must provide a death or cremation certificate for the cremated remains in order to carry them on board.

Marcia Shafer passed away Friday, January 7, 2026. She was 79 years old.

Memorialization was by cremation with no services held.

Marcia was born in Troy, Alabama, January 27, 1946, to the late Eddie and Rebie Davis Tomberlin. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Weeks Stevens (Tony); son, Todd Holman Weeks (Karen); and three grandchildren, Alex Stevens, Andrew Stevens, and Anna Catherine Weeks.

Marcia was a long-time resident of Enterprise and graduated from Enterprise High School. As a young lady she loved making trips to the beach at Spring Break and in the summer with her high school girlfriends. After Friday night football games, she could be found on the dance floor at the local sockhops.

Marcia’s father owned the only drive-in theater in town, M & O Drive-In, so she was always loading a bunch of friends in her car to watch movies at her dad's drive-in. As an only child, she was adored by her parents and her many friends. Even as the years went by and her health declined, she still got together at the beach and had lunch in Enterprise with her high school buds. Having to use rollator walker never stopped her; she kept going!

As her health declined her closest friends who loved her dearly were by her side helping her every way they could. They worked tirelessly to make her life comfortable, and her children could not be more grateful. They are true angels and stepped in when her children could not.

Marcia volunteered with many organizations, including Hospice, Enterprise Historical Society, SOS Animal Shelter, and many more. She loved animals and wanted the city of Enterprise to open a no kill shelter for animals. That is why SOS animal shelter was very important to her.

Marcia would be honored if donations in her memory were made to SOS Animal Shelter in Enterprise, Alabama, a donation of items the shelter needs, monetary, or volunteering your time. For more information visit www.sosshelter.com.

Lenore Case, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and treasured friend to generations of soldiers and families, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the age of 92. Her life was marked by faith, service, and a quiet devotion to others that left a lasting imprint on all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise with Pastor Craig Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Lenore was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Warren, a partnership grounded in love, faith, and steadfast commitment. Together, they built a life centered on family and service. She is survived by her son, Chris Case (Molly), and her cherished granddaughter, Shelby, who was a constant source of pride and joy.

Affectionately known throughout the Army Aviation community as “The Patch Lady,” Lenore became a beloved fixture at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Over several decades, she collected unit patches personally given to her by soldiers passing through the installation. Each patch represented a story of service, sacrifice, and home, and her remarkable collection became a living archive of Army history. Her unique contribution and compassionate presence were recognized nationally in the Army Times, which profiled her for preserving the personal stories of soldiers in a deeply meaningful way.

To countless young soldiers, many far from home for the first time, Lenore was a steady and reassuring presence. She listened, remembered names, and honored their service in a personal and heartfelt manner. Her legacy at Fort Rucker lives on through the many lives she touched and the stories she helped preserve.

Central to Lenore’s life was her faith and lifelong dedication to the Methodist Church. She faithfully served the church for most of her lifetime, where she ran children’s programs, nurtured young families, and directed the church choir for many years. Through music, mentorship, and service, she helped shape the spiritual foundation of countless individuals. Her leadership reflected humility, consistency, and a true servant’s heart.

Lenore’s life was defined by showing up, week after week, year after year, for her family, her church, and her community. Whether guiding children, lifting voices in song, or quietly honoring soldiers through a single patch, she made people feel seen, valued, and remembered.

She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.

Mr. William B. Paulk passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026. He was 63 years old.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise, Alabama with Reverend Kevin Knight officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00pm and continuing until service time.

William was born in Donalsonville, Georgia, on June 16, 1962, to the late James A. Paulk and Nelda Jean Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Paulk, and sister, Connie Paulk.

Most people shortened his name to Bill, but those who really knew him called him Mushy, a nickname born from an old western TV series, Rawhide, and carried with pride throughout his life.

He found his greatest peace on the water, casting a line and waiting patiently for that familiar tug that always made him smile. Fishing wasn’t just a hobby for him; it was his joy, his quiet place. On fall Saturdays, you could count on him cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide in his cut off jean shorts and bare feet. In his younger years, he poured his heart into restoring old muscle cars. He was a mechanic by trade, but also by passion.

When life grew heavy, he leaned a lot on God in prayer something he talked about often. And even in the hardest moments, he had a way of easing the weight with his favorite saying from his momma: “Don’t worry, it will all come out in the wash.” It was his way of saying that hope still had a place, even when the world felt dark or uncertain.

He appreciated the simple things in life and never missed a chance to share a cherished memory or a funny story. He loved his family with his whole heart, especially his daughters and grandchildren. He treasured those Sunday calls with his daughter, catching up on the week and offering a life lesson or two before ending with, “I love you, kiddo.” He was deeply loved and will always be remembered for his unique laugh and powder‑blue eyes.

Mushy is survived by his daughters, Ambria Barber (Chris) of Headland and Katherine Paulk; brother, Kenneth Paulk of Enterprise; grandchildren, Shelby and Connor Barber and Tristen and Elijah Reeves; and nephew, Jamie Paulk.

Is Cremation the right choice for you? Consider these when making a decision:
1) Cremation opens up more options, not less. When you choose cremation, you can still choose service and celebration of life options. You get to decide how cremated remains are dispersed: scattering, urn placement, burial and more.
2) Cremation is a permanent decision. It’s best to think through this decision, and be sure it discuss it with your loved ones.
3) Some religions and denominations have different views on cremation as a final disposition. If a religious funeral is a priority for you, make sure you know your religion’s stance on cremation.
4) Cremation is still a relatively new choice and therefore concerns arise regarding respect of the body and respect for cremated remains. It’s important to note that only the highest standards exist for cremation, just like burial.
