SPRAIN vs STRAIN ⬇️
👉🏼A strain is an injury to a muscle or tendon (the tissue that connects muscle to bone). It usually happens when a muscle is overstretched, overworked, or suddenly loaded, and it can cause pain, tightness, cramping, or weakness.
👉🏼 A sprain is an injury to a ligament (the tissue that connects bone to bone at a joint). Sprains often occur when a joint is twisted or forced too far, leading to swelling, bruising, pain, or a feeling that the joint is unstable.
🩺 In physical therapy, we treat both differently because muscles, tendons, and ligaments heal in different ways. Our goal at ETC is to reduce pain, restore movement and strength, and help you return to your normal activities safely.
