There should be a support group for people who bake to avoid other tasks. Is there anything more relaxing than a quiet kitchen, freshly baked goodies to eat in peace and a favorite book or tv show playing in the background???

As I prepared the last few bags of elderberry syrup kits to go out to a vendor store from elderberries grown by me, I had to pause in gratitude. Plant medicine is my passion, but it doesn't mean it's an easy path to navigate. I'm always learning and finding my way through the adult version of growing pains with this business.

Two years ago I pruned my elderberry trees and thought I might have lost them that year. The harvest was so small, many branches breaking after their rapid growth post pruning. This year, I harvested the largest quantity of elderberries ever and will make it through January with selling kits solely from our property! And that was even after doing 5 vendor events this year in comparison to 1 last year. I would love to be able to grow all of the elderberries I need every year. While I don't think that will ever happen with just two plants, I'm thrilled that they got me this far this year!

All Purpose Healing Salve is our quick go to for most things skin, sore muscle or joint related. I begin by infusing olive oil with dried calendula flowers, comfrey and broadleaf plantain leaves. Then beeswax is added to thicken. Vitamin E and healing essential oils are added as the last step.

*Essential oil free versions are available as well for those who may be allergic or desire use in sensitive areas.

Making a batch of all-purpose healing salve without essential oils.

This is perfect for those who either can't or don't want to use essential oils. Not all essential oils are recommended for young children and this salve is good for diaper rash! So I wanted to provide the option for an essential oil free version.

My husband added more string lights to the driveway so friends and family and all of you beautiful people stopping by for some herbal remedies can more easily spot our house. In the daytime you can't see the twinkling lights, but you will still see the set up.

Don't feel embarrassed if you miss the driveway. Even life long friends still do sometimes

Coffee is a stimulant, so timing to drink coffee often needs to be intentional. However most teas are caffeine free, so anytime can be tea time!!

Pumpkin spice base for coffee drinks

1/2 cup of pumpkin
1/3 cup of maple syrup
2 tsp of pumpkin spice (you can find recipes to mix up your own online)
A splash of vanilla

Whisk all the ingredients together in a saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes; occasionally stirring. Mixture will be thick. Mix 1 TBS of your pumpkin spice mixture into each cup of coffee. Store in the fridge for about a week.

I add this in with my milk and mix it up with an electric frother to make the most delicious pumpkin spice latte.

I also often add a scoop of collagen for added protein as well as bone and joint support
