Spring is here in Montco, and we know many of you are already gearing up for the Montco Trail Challenge! Whether you’re hitting the Wissahickon or exploring Forbidden Drive, you’ve probably got your hiking boots, sunscreen, and water bottle ready. But there’s one piece of "safety gear" that doesn’t fit in your backpack: CPR certification.

When you're out on the trails, being the person who knows what to do in an emergency is life-changing. If someone collapses, every second counts. Remember the high-quality basics for adults:
- Push hard and fast in the center of the chest.
- Target a rate of 100–120 compressions per minute.
- Target a depth of at least 2 inches.

Our instructors have years of real-life experience and will give you the confidence to act when it matters most. Don’t just hike the trails: protect your community while you’re out there.

Get certified before your next adventure! Book your spot at our Erdenheim location or schedule a group session for your hiking club.

Our local doctors are superheroes, but they can't do it all alone.

National Doctors' Day is March 30, and we're celebrating the partnership between the "lay rescuer" and medical pros. When someone's heart stops, every second counts. By starting high-quality chest compressions immediately: pushing hard and fast (2 to 2.4 inches deep at 100–120 bpm for adults): you're keeping blood flowing until our local doctors take over.

Starting CPR early gives them the best chance to save a life. You’re the first link in the chain of survival! Let’s work together to keep Montgomery County safe and heart-healthy.

Get certified. Enroll in a class today and become the partner our doctors need.

March 26 is Purple Day! At Stay Calm & Start CPR, we’re wearing purple to raise awareness for epilepsy and share essential seizure first aid tips.

When an emergency happens, staying calm is your most powerful tool. Here is how you can help, following AHA-aligned guidelines:

1. TIME THE SEIZURE: Note the start time. Call 911 if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes.
2. PROTECT THE AREA: Move hard or sharp objects away to prevent injury. Do not restrain the person or put anything in their mouth.
3. RECOVERY POSITION: Once jerking stops, gently turn the person onto their side. This keeps their airway clear and safe.
4. STAY UNTIL ALERT: Stay with them and provide reassurance until they are fully awake and alert.

Life-saving skills are for everyone: parents, local business owners, and healthcare pros alike. Join us at our Erdenheim location or we can bring the training to your group!

Enroll today and gain the confidence to act.

Ever felt that "frozen" moment during an emergency when you aren't sure if you should step in? We call that the bystander effect, and this Spring, we’re helping our Montgomery County neighbors trade that hesitation for confidence.

Becoming a "Lay Rescuer" isn't about being a doctor (though with National Doctors' Day coming up on March 30th, we certainly find inspiration in our local medical heroes!). It’s about a simple mindset shift: from "Someone should do something" to "I am the someone."

When you train with us, you learn the actual AHA-certified skills that save lives:
• High-quality chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 bpm.
• Proper depth (at least 2 inches for adults).
• Full chest recoil to allow the heart to refill.

Whether you’re a new parent in Erdenheim or a local business owner, that "I’ve got this" feeling is the best Spring cleaning you can do for your peace of mind.

Ready to make the shift? Enroll in a class or book on-site group training for your team today. Let’s turn "bystander" into "lifesaver" together.

It’s every new parent’s biggest fear, but knowing what to do makes all the difference. When an infant is choking and still conscious, the '5 and 5' protocol is the gold standard for clearing the airway.

According to current AHA guidelines, you should alternate between:
• 5 back blows: Use the heel of your hand to give firm blows between the shoulder blades.
• 5 chest thrusts: Flip the baby over and use two fingers in the center of the chest to provide quick thrusts.

Knowing the steps is a great start, but practicing them hands-on is how you build the muscle memory to stay calm and act fast. Our certified instructors in Erdenheim have years of real-life experience and are here to help you master these life-saving skills.

Whether you're an expectant parent or a local caregiver in Montgomery County, our small-group classes provide the personal attention you need.

Give yourself the peace of mind that comes with being prepared.

When it comes to choking, what works for adults can actually be dangerous for babies.

If an infant under 1 year old is choking, we NEVER use abdominal thrusts (the Heimlich maneuver). Because a baby's organs are still developing and sit higher in the abdomen, these thrusts can cause serious internal damage.

So, what do you do instead? Following American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines, we use a combination of back slaps and chest thrusts:

1. Give 5 back slaps: Hold the baby face down on your forearm, supporting the jaw with your hand. Use the heel of your hand to give firm slaps between the shoulder blades.

2. Give 5 chest thrusts: Turn the baby face up. Place two fingers on the center of the chest (just below the ni**le line) and give quick thrusts about 1.5 inches deep.

3. Repeat until the object is out or the baby becomes unresponsive.

Want to practice these skills until they feel like second nature? Our classes in Erdenheim give you the hands-on confidence you need to protect your little ones.
