Happy Self-Care Sunday! šæ
This week reminded me why self-care matters. I broke my cupping pump and had no electricity for a bit. Instead of letting the stress take over, I focused on adapting and finding solutions.
Thereās science behind this. When weāre under stress, our bodies release cortisol and activate the āfight or flightā response. If we stay in that state too long, it can affect sleep, recovery, mood, and focus. Self-care: like movement, massage, breathing, quiet time, or asking for help, activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Which allows the body to relax, recover, and rebalance.
I see this with many of my clients, athletes, busy moms, and hardworking dads. Life, training, and work all add stress to the body.
Taking care of yourself helps your body recover so you can keep showing up strong.
