Medical scientists took MRI imaging on patients about to undergo limb removal (from cancer or etc.). They had the patients activate/move different body parts, including the limb pending removal.

After their amputation surgeries, the patients were again scanned via MRI, and again were asked to move each limb, even the absent one.

In a surprising turn of events, the MRI scans appeared nearly identical, between before and after the amputation.

The brain contains maps of the body that do not disappear with limb removal. Such an awesome piece of research! 💜☺️✨

Inside every human brain lies a detailed map of the body, with different regions dedicated to different body parts – the hands, lips, feet and more.
