Today our residents on Gallagher tried their hands at baking an interesting fall cookie recipe! We combined pumpkin puree, chocolate chips, and a box of spice cake mix to create soft cookies that weren't too sweet, but juuuuust right. 🍪👍

Christmas Angel Tree: Not all residents at the Center have the blessing of family to surround them during the holidays. The Christmas Angel Tree is an opportunity to share the Christmas spirit by bringing gifts and joy to those residents in need.

It’s as easy as...
1. Select an Angel from the Christmas Angel Tree in the lobby. It includes details of a resident in need.
2. Drop off the gifts to the Receptionist between 11/1 thru 12/13.
3. Celebrate the Christmas spirit.

Today we celebrated Diwali, a Festival of Lights traditionally celebrated in India! It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, and we took the time to talk a little bit about what brings light to our lives. We watched a live stream of celebrations in India, tried a few classical Indian dance moves, watched some crazy firework displays, and learned a bit more about snake charmers... 🐍

We snacked on some interesting food, had good conversations, and learned about another culture and their traditions. At the end of the party one resident said, "This is the stuff that keeps us young". 🇮🇳🎆

"Waste Not, Want Not" is a motto we try to live by around here. We had some leftover cereal and decided to make cereal bars! An easy and (very) tasty snack. 🥣😋

We celebrated our veterans a few days early with help from our friends Jan Klima and those at AseraCare Hospice. Our facility veterans received an American Flag pin, as well as a certificate thanking them for their service. Our veterans have a lot of stories to tell, and have made sacrifices most can't even imagine. Thank you to all who have served our country and sacrificed to create a better future. 🇺🇸
