Happy National IBCLC Day 🤍✨

What’s an IBCLC?

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is the highest credential in lactation care — requiring advanced education in human lactation, extensive clinical hours, and a rigorous international board exam.

IBCLCs provide expert, evidence-based support for:
• Prenatal feeding prep
• Latch & supply concerns
• Pumping + return-to-work plans
• NICU/preterm feeding
• Complex medical situations

We’re proud to share that both of our registered dietitians are also IBCLCs — combining advanced nutrition expertise with specialized lactation care to support families from pregnancy through postpartum and beyond.

Comprehensive. Compassionate. Evidence-based. 🤍

✨ Days 6 & 7 ✅ = The No Processed Foods Challenge Complete! ✨(and of course I couldn’t let those two numbers go by without hearing my 6-7 in my head so thought I’d share my favorite little girl letting you know what days her mama just completed in this journey!)

I made it to the end of the week — and wow, what a journey it’s been! Seven days of choosing real, nourishing foods over convenience… and my body has a lot to say about it. 😅💪

Here’s what I’ve noticed as I wrap up the challenge:

🌿 The Positives

✨ More stable energy
That mid-afternoon crash? Almost gone. I’ve been feeling more steady throughout the day, without reaching for quick snacks or caffeine boosts.

✨ Mood improvements
There’s something about eating real, whole foods that feels grounding. Less irritability, more clarity, and fewer emotional “spikes.”

✨ Better sleep
Not perfect… but definitely deeper and more restful. My body feels calmer winding down at night without added sugars or chemicals lingering in my system.

⚡️ The Challenges (Because let’s be real here! I still love chocolate 🍫 and my coffee creamer!?!!)

😅 Cravings still pop up
Especially in the evenings or during stressful moments. This is normal — your body is still recalibrating.

😴 A little fatigue early in the week
Sometimes your system needs time to adjust to fewer processed carbs or sugary snacks.

💡 More time in the kitchen
There’s no denying it — whole foods require a bit more prep. But it DOES get easier, especially once you find your rhythm.

➡️ Moving Forward

Just because the 7-day challenge is wrapping up doesn’t mean your progress ends here. The whole point of this week was to notice. To tune in. To feel the difference real food makes.

Going forward, my goal — and yours if you want to join me — is to:
✨ Keep using whole, real ingredients
✨ Maintain the hydration habits
✨ Prep ahead to avoid last-minute processed choices
✨ Be mindful of how food makes you feel, not just how it tastes

Small daily choices = big, long-term changes. 🌱

If you want continued accountability, personalized guidance, or help making changes stick, we’d love to support you. This is what we do, helping you find what works for YOU. 💚 Contact us First Step Nutrition Consulting, LLC today!

If you’re interested in trying the challenge yourself and jump starting your health , keep your eyes 👀 on our page! More information to come!!!!

✨ Day 4 ✅ Accountability, the secret to success ✨

If there’s one thing I’ve learned (both personally and as a dietitian), it’s that accountability changes everything. 💬

Motivation comes and goes — but having someone (or something!) to check in with keeps you moving forward even when it gets tough.

For this No Processed Foods Challenge, accountability has been HUGE for me. I’ve been sharing my daily wins and struggles with our group, and honestly, knowing others are in it with me helps me stay focused and consistent. Also, having a very supportive husband, who has run to the grocery store, dissected food labels, and ensured I stayed on track has been a significant part of my success as well! Truly keeping me accountable!

It’s the same approach I use with anyone I work with. We set realistic goals together, track progress, and check in regularly — not for perfection, but for progress. That ongoing support makes such a difference when life gets busy or motivation dips.

Sometimes you just need someone in your corner reminding you why you started and cheering you on all the way to the finish line. 💪

So tell me — who (or what!) keeps YOU accountable when you’re working toward a goal? 👇
