As the days get darker earlier… have you noticed your mood shifting too?

It’s not your imagination — shorter daylight hours can actually affect the brain’s chemistry. When light exposure drops, so does serotonin and melatonin balance — the very neurotransmitters that impact mood, sleep, and motivation.

But here’s the truth 👉 it’s not just in your head.
Your neurotransmitters are deeply connected to your gut, hormones, and minerals.

A few key players:
🧠 Serotonin → mood + sleep (and 90% is made in your gut!)
⚡ Dopamine → focus, motivation, drive
🌿 GABA → calm and relaxation

Have you ever heard of a “calcium shell”?

I’ve seen this show up on a few HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) tests lately, and it always gets my attention.

A calcium shell happens when calcium builds up in the tissues as a kind of “protective armor.” On the surface it might sound helpful, but in reality it can block your body from absorbing other key minerals and can even make your thyroid, adrenals, and mood feel stuck.

Why does it happen?
👉 Long-term stress
👉 Suppressed emotions or trauma stored in the body
👉 Mineral imbalances that the body is trying to buffer

Common signs someone may be dealing with a calcium shell:

Feeling emotionally “numb” or walled off

Thyroid or metabolism running slow

Muscle stiffness or joint issues
