On the days when it feels like you will never get through this season, this period, this transition — please remember all of the mountains you have scaled before.

Please remember all of the nights you spent convinced that you’d never move beyond where you were in that very moment. One day, something small brought you a little ease, and then a little more. You waited. You realized that everything was going to be okay, even if it doesn’t always feel okay. You let the waves of all those big feelings crash over you, and then you let them recede.
You found courage. You did things you once did not believe you could do, even if those things were just finding the will to wake up and face another day. You found softness.

You found yourself.

You found forms of love you never expected, you began to appreciate what you couldn’t see before. You began to feel like you were enough, because you decided what would be enough for you.

You developed resilience.

You explored the perimeters of what your heart could hold, and how much it could process. You discovered that your strength is limitless, a truth we often don’t know until we are tested, until we are asked to dig it out from beneath our doubts and fears and false beliefs.

Over time, what once seemed impossible became ordinary.

The life you have today is a mere dream of the past. The things you do right now were once the things you only could have ever prayed to have. Please, do not forget that, when you most fear the future.

Each time you have stepped forward, the road rose to meet you — and it will again.

"You, alone, are on a path.

It’s met with all sorts of people and experiences which bring out your different sides. Study your reactions. See into the hurts. Feel into the joys. Follow the streams of your consciousness. Write it out. Dance it out. Sing it out. Feel the feelings when you were left behind, ignored, criticized, and yelled at. Notice what brings you happiness. What sparks your creativity? How is this a pattern? What can be changed?

Turn what you didn’t know about yourself into what you can do now. You know what and who hurts you.

This, of course, is different for each of us. We live. We learn. We grow. Think like a tree. Feel like the sea. Trace the air with your thoughts and let the beautiful colors of Nature uplift the textures of your heart."

I have grown more through my failures than through my successes, for if I always made the right choices, I would cease to learn.
I have gained empowerment from my mistakes more than from my achievements, for if I never stumbled, I would cease to rise.
I have embraced change through my discomfort more than through my comfort, for if I never ventured beyond, I would cease to evolve.
I have gained insight from my wrong turns more than from my right paths, for if I never strayed, I would cease to make discoveries along the way.
I have cultivated gratitude through my losses more than through my gains, for if I never experienced loss, I would cease to have appreciation for what truly matters.
And I have developed empathy through my own pain more than through my joys, for if I never experienced pain, I would cease to have compassion for the struggles of others.

"The longer I live, the more deeply I learn that love — whether we call it friendship or family or romance — is the work of mirroring and magnifying each other’s light. Gentle work. Steadfast work. Life-saving work in those moments when life, shame, and sorrow occlude our own light from our view, but there is still a clear-eyed loving person to beam it back. In our best moments, we are that person for another."
