Fact of the Day: In addition to our 5 senses: vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch we have 3 other vital senses: Tactile- providing information through the surface of our skin about the objects in our environment, Vestibular- providing information about balance and movement, and Proprioceptive- providing information through our muscles and joints about where our body parts are and what they are doing. Difficulties in these areas may be caused by a Sensory Integration Dysfunction.

Fact of the Day: Between the age of 1 and 2 years, children begin producing simple questions such as "Where is Daddy?". By age 5, their questions are lengthier and more grammatically complex such as "Are we going to the library today?".
After that....look out....they want an answer to everything!!

Children who continue to use a pacifier past age 2 increase their risk of developing dental bite problems as well as improper tongue movement which ultimately can impact their speech development.

Fact of the Day: Virtually all children go through a period of typical disfluency during speech/language development. However, atypical types of disfluency to watch for include sound and syllable repetitions, prolongations, and blocking on words.
When these are present, consult with a Speech Pathologist.
